About May 1st , I cruised the ""nicks and dents" section in our Fred Meyer nursery section. I was flabbergasted to see 4 inch round Proven Winners pots of our most favorite petunia: Vista Bubblegum. Half price is generally a good price and the sad neglected plants were definitely only suffering from poor care at the nursery. I bought thee of them.
Margaret was elated and immediately took cuttings of them and then planted the three plants into a large container . It grew, and grew and grew, and now it sits on a log in the prime position in our yard. Right now it is about three feet in diameter and over 2 feet tall. It will grow to be much bigger. The cuttings were rooted and an encore performance container is going to rival this one.
We watched a petunia video by some petunia expert and he too loves Vista Bubblegum. It was really hard to find in recent years but this year they decided to bring it back. It is different from old time petunias as it needs no deadheading and blooms like crazy for a very long time. I will post another picture when it reaches full size.
