Teddahlia We have a pink flower that is akin to T. Edison with it's intense color and the color of pink in this seedling is so intense that no picture will ever capture it. If I take a picture of it that would show the intense color, I believe that no one would believe that the picture had not been enhanced to show a brighter, deeper color. So far, just Margaret and I have seen the actual flower and next year we will make sure to show it to people who will appreciate the intense pink color, and once several people have seen it in person, we may share a picture.
TNB Teddahlia that sounds like an absolutely fascinating flower! I love those sort of “have to grow it to believe it” shades. They’re mesmerizing and one of the things that make growing so rewarding & fulfilling.
bloomhjelm I struggle to take photos of this very vibrant fuschia dahlia. In person it is almost luminously neon purple, especially against its dark foliage. The variety is an import called Imera.
Juliarugula Arobin673 that’s a really interesting bloom. I had been thinking recently about how variegated blooms tend to be a dark color splashed on a light color, but that almost looks light on dark. The form doesn’t quite look right for HH Bewitched or a sport of it to me, but I hope Ted will weigh in with his take.
Teddahlia Imera looks much like Engleharts' Madator and they both have dark foliage. It seems that the dark foliage affects the flower color that gets this overly bright color that is neither pink, purple or lavender and what is it? Not related to any Hollyhill variety.
Juliarugula Teddahlia Not related to any Hollyhill variety Teddahlia the photo I was wondering about is a few posts up. Arobin673 I purchased this as HH Bewitched, is this just a color variety? Or is is a sport? I've only had one bloom.
magucci TNB I agree about video. I think it shows off the flower so much better. I love seeing them because I can see all the angles.
magucci Sandia Nocturne is really swoon worthy. This is a first bloom. Can’t wait to see what the next ones look like. I feel like it’s a race against the clock right now.
Teddahlia Bewitched has numerous sports but probably not this one, Classic is white background with dark red spots. It is always a kick to grow if the stock is healthy and sports are common as are "wolf" petals.
calico20hill Teddahlia Except for the one that took down my garden at the end of September 2 or 3 years ago...and of course it was followed by weeks and weeks of good weather..... So far, so good this year. 75 degrees already at 10 AM and suppose to be up in the high 90's today. I've been out cutting ripe seed pods and it is VERY humid.
JessieC Some blooms: AC Twisp (Thank you @Krista I am in love 🤗) Orange Globe with some interesting stripes on the top half of the bloom. This plant always frustrates me, and then it produces things like this. Bigger than a grapefruit and much prettier in person. A small batch from last month: Skipley Spot of Gold, HH Daydream (thank you again, Krista) Rose Toscano, and Valley Tawny: Orange Globe again, because I can’t figure out how to place my images in order.
Krista JessieC Oh your blooms, Gorgeous! Your AC Twisp looks more beautiful than it ever did in my garden. For some reason the blooms were very few and with a low petal count. Seeing yours, I understand the hype. The striations on your Orange Globe, wow!
Juliarugula JessieC Orange Globe again, because I can’t figure out how to place my images in order. I’ve noticed that it places the photos in the order that I select them. So the first one I pick is posted first, then the second, etc. if I want a different order, I have to unselect and the reselect in order.
Teddahlia Frost occurs early once in awhile. In Vancouver, Washington a killing frost occurred on September 10th(could have been 11th or 12th) one year and Phil Mingus was happy as he and Bill Mishler wanted to go hunting that year and digging dahlias was always a problem due to timing with hunting season. They dug early and went hunting. I am not a hunter and an early frost would cause problems for the collection of seed pods.
Juliarugula Teddahlia is this a lightly variegated HH Pink Tigress or something else? I really like it!
