I am pouting a bit because I have some seedlings I think are gorgeous and I can't get the color to look right on here.

Gregors Mikkel: I have another picture that would absolutely prove the brown tan color but it is buried among thousands of the old pictures that were not set up in alpha order. The picture I posted is an immature flower and the colors have not "bled" to form the tan color. My old picture shows flower that is mostly a rich tan so much that I stopped in my tracks when I saw it.

Teddahlia Margaret wants to name our new copper colored seedling and we are thinking about the name Copper Queen but she is having second thoughts. Is that a good name and what would be good name for a flower that is copper on the face of the petals and red on the reverse?

Noni, Krista sent me a tuber of Salish Snow Day this spring and wow! What stems! She’s such a joy to arrange, and a perfect white in a perfect size!

AC Jeremy is really cool, but really hard to photograph. It tucks itself in at night like a waterlily, and looks coolest in that form I think. The kitchen picture shows the flower best, but is a lousy photo. Shrug.

AC Youge is, as expected, youge.

Funny thing, though. As I was trimming the stem to put it in a vase (I ended up trimming back several times so it wasn’t too top-heavy), I kept saying to my son “ew, something stinks. What is that smell? Did one of the tomatoes rot?”

It was the dahlia stem/foliage! A smell that I usually love! So weird. This one smelled like burned broccoli for some reason…

I love it when the flowers are placed on the plants in a photogenic way. I did remove about three spent blooms that would have detracted from the picture. Note that per Margaret's instructions, no two colors are planted next to each other.

I'm doing a 7 day free trial of a photo editing app with AI and it's blowing my mind. I love that it can do in 2 seconds what took 21 year old me 45 minutes to do in Adobe Photoshop. It's too good and too easy though, and that scares me. But I'll take off my tinfoil hat and get on with my post...

MissyWeitzel What’s the app? $90 a year is a lot! That’s about Lightroom/Photoshop range. I miss the days when you bought a software and it and most of its upgrades were free.

Cellphones do much more automatic processing of pictures than my 7 year old Canon camera. I can coax a better shot from my old camera but without doing anything special, the cell phone on average, does better pictures. Having said that I do take the old camera out and shoot a series of shots and get some of the best ones. My son's full frame camera has so much detail that you can blow up one picture into 12 pictures and never know they were cropped. But to get that detail you need perfect lighting and even a tripod. Cell phones are so much easier and if you take your pictures carefully, the results can be excellent. Full size cameras ought to copy the cell phone technology and have many more "automatic" settings.

Teddahlia I got to where I was fairly decent with my Canon SLR back in architecture school, but trying to take quick photos of my kids later on got me out of the habit of using any manual settings. And then out of the habit of having anything large and breakable. And then iPhone photo technology got so advanced and so easy…. So I exclusively use my phone these days. I was really excited to discover that I can adjust the f-stop in portrait mode recently. The other advantage of a phone it that it’s easy to hold a bloom in one hand and take a photo with the other.
