I would like for someone to please donate time to build a Shopify store for Mark at Old House. 🙂
I thought I would sidle in and sneak out with Bed Head but I did not.
Someone on Facebook was asking about the idea of lotteries to solve the supply and demand problem (I know this comes up a lot) and I replied with my thoughts. I'll copy them here. Of course there's always the option of not having public sales at all.
"There are problems with every approach. I think there's a limited number of people willing to pay more than a few bucks for raffle tickets, more than once per season. Auctions and VIP access favor those with more disposable money. Surprise releases favor the, uh, obsessed.
One contributing factor is the market is too diverse and even Dahlia Addict doesn't have all the suppliers. Because so many of them don't have websites. So people are funneled to websites where they can more easily find and purchase what they want even if it's not exclusive to that site. A longer term solution is probably what has already been developed for the rare houseplant market which are marketplace apps."
