Justafewdahlias Yes, my dahlia beds are 6 by 20 feet. So I plant two rows with alternating spacing on each side with other seedlings tucked into empty spots or in front of the established and known varieties. There are always a few seedlings that get crowded out or seedlings that don't grow well and I always have few flats of prestarted extras that are available for back up. Then I have a double row of grow bags at the back in space that could become a 7th raised bed. After that, I am out of luck or have to fence a new yard...which is not going to happen. I have 3 other raised beds...one planted to perennials for cutting, one to annuals for cutting, and one that gets anything else like Chrysanthemums, sweet peas, Zinnias or what ever my dream flower of the year is. I am only supplying my own house with flowers now, so keeping the garden this confined helps keep me in line. A seperate fenced in garden has the mini dwarf fruit trees, berry plants, a fig, and grow bags of tomatoes, peppers, green beans, squash, cucumbers. There is a raised bed stand for 25 strawberries. I would like one more bed for lots of bush beans and some salad greens. I always have a few projects in line for a husband who is at loose ends.....:-).
He is a good garden carpenter.
