Having spent months in the cutting room for really the first time ever, here is what I've learned, and I welcome anyone to expand on any points based on your deeper experience.

I am working with cool spectrum lights _6500K, due to budget. However a friend with primarily pinkish _2000K lights reports darker green leaves on all the shelves with this lighting. I know THC farmers use full spectrum lights and vary light tone based on growth stage. I do not do this. I also found that while I don't have a light meter, moving my plants 8" closer to the lights than I had them originally is leading to pale yellow leaves.
I checked my water pH and hardness with pool testing strips, but couldn't find any water issues contributing to any problems with my plants (that I know of). I am not using distilled water because I don't know why I should. I suspect non-distilled water has more minerals.
I am starting to use Cal MAG and Super Thrive after transplanting, originally it was to deal with yellow leaves in transplants, but now I suspect lighting is the problem instead. Oh I am also sprinkling epsom salts in the soil of any yellow plants.
I tried (not at the same time) Avid, thyme oil, Neem, horticultural oil, d-Limonene spray, soap spray, and sulfur-based spray for pest control. Avid and d-Limonene seemed to make leaves brittle. The others had mixed effectiveness. I don't like trying to spray all the undersides of my leaves due to blowback. My main pest is broad mites.
My main fertilizers are Fox Farm Grow Big (6-4-4) and Osmocote.
I made some indoor rooting and potting soil by oven-baking Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil (due to terror of mites) and mixing with 1/3 perlite. It retains moisture well but I feel like these fertilizer amendments are necessary because I suspect I've killed all the microbes in my soil along with any eggs.
I tried different rooting mediums. Mainly Root Riots, Qcubes, and the potting mixture above. Root Riots lead to more small hairy roots for me. Potting mixture and Qcubes retain much more moisture which is leading to more rotting failure on smaller and more delicate cuttings. A friend is suggesting a mix with a higher percentage of vermiculite.
Jiffy pots get mold.
My tuber mothers waking up in baggies have developed too many roots and rotting sprouts if I keep them in the bag, but I don't currently have enough space to mix bags and cutting trays.
No matter what I do, some tuber mothers produce thin stem cuttings. I am taking this as a sign of low energy or disease and I stop using those tubers once they do this.
