Teddahlia I trash all my dahlias foliage. Same with any tomatoes, cucumbers, squash.

But if know a foliage is unlikely to harbor pests or disease I’ll compost in place. Herbs, for example. So I’m wondering if anyone knows of any problems with glad foliage, specifically.

Juliarugula Glads and dahlias are susceptible to some of the same virus (e.g., CMV). I would probably plant a cover crop and trash the glad leaves.

Juliarugula , glads are very susceptible to thrips, as can be dahlias. I'd be very cautious of keeping the glad foliage around.

AndreaB I liked them a lot. I'll try to post photos in the general "other plants" thread soon. Unfortunately, I didn't get around to harvesting seeds from them this year. The birds got to them first.

Does anyone grow Janet Leigh?
I don't grow by color or height. So I always have a couple that get lost in the dahlias and never bloom because, they're short. If I know their short I do place them on the east side of my rows.
When cutting my plants down today I found two Janet Leigh plants lost in the dahlias. Does anyone grow it? Is it a shorter than average plant?

MIDahlias I grow Janet Leigh. She is about 3ft for me.

calico20hill I put some of my slightly under ripe stems with seed pods into a vase with a very diluted solution of miracle grow. My rational (unproved) is the extra nutrients in the water will help feed the seed embryo and be helpful for the germination.

AndreaB Thank you! One possible theory is that Floret got 'Bracken Faux' as misnamed tubers and then popularized it. Here is another pic of the real Bracken Rose that is still live at the Elkhorn Garden site:

Pleasant Valley claimed to carry Bracken Rose back in 2013-2015. I looked through their MB and BB offerings to see if there were any obscure varieties that might be Bracken Rose (Not) but no dice.

It's a funny coincidence to me that this road led to or past Pleasant Valley because doing my own internet research into one of the mislabeled dahlias I received from them several years ago led me to find this Cubits group.

Teddahlia Elkhorn hasn't had a sale in a few years. Something happened with them, but their site is still up. I would be interested in what people get when they order it from Pleasant Valley. They were really prone to sending misnamed tubers, and I confess I wonder if that was the start of it.
