DarcyD Fidalgo Splash has been on my wish list for years. I had it years ago and love it!

DarcyD It looks like Parks Dahlias had a picture up of Fidalgo Splash at some point. Might be worth contacting them to see if they still grow it. Good luck!

BackyardBouquets_17 Kennedy has this right now as a fall cutting. I got one along with a few others. Now let's have a powwow on keeping fall cuttings alive over winter. 🙏

Fidalgo Splash: I find it interesting that something we grew in the early 1990s and is a 1972 variety is now a unicorn. The late Richard Matthies bred it and he was also a rhododendron breeder. And you all know, Fidalgo is the name of the island where he lived and it is not far away from Camano Island.

I had Rejman's Polish kid my first year, five years ago, and lost it. I would love to find it as my mom is Polish and got a kick out of the name. I see it sometimes pop up on websites but never seems to make it to the sale anymore.

I would also love to find Hollyhill Calico. Another one I had my first year and lost bc I bungled the tuber saving. I love the randomness of it.

I seen that. I’ve dabbled in my own cuttings in the spring with really good success but not sure how well my overwintering capabilities are for fall cutting. We had our first hard frost last night and won’t be able to plant out till mid May so it’s a long time to keep things alive for us and So far I haven’t had the greatest success with shipped cuttings which why I prefer buying a tuber. If I end up having to buy a cutting I’ll just bite the bullet and try it but it’s not my first preference.

I still have Rejman's Polish Kid and it makes enough tubers from 3 plants to have one tuber to grow. One has to do cuttings and I lost it once it even then. It is not a vigorous grower either and certainly would make a lousy cut flower and really is not a good garden flower either. I grew it because at our show they have a $5.00 prize for best bicolor and I could win it every time with it. The economics of this does not work out very well so it must be bragging rights.

I had one Rejman's Polish Kid plant three years ago and it only made 2 flowers and 1 tuber, which did not survive storage. It's a shame because it is beautiful.

I have a growing wishlist of dahlias for 2025. Many of them I didn't see for sale or trade last year. I've only seen them on social media or in photos from shows. So I guess time will tell over the next 9 months of tuber sales and trades. And I do want Hart's Bonnie but specifically from one guy who seems to have the bee's knees version.

bloomhjelm Normandy Orange Fluff still exists and I might even have some. It's not a great tuber producer/keeper, no surprises there. Parks sells it some years.

Got an email that HH Letitia is in a trial garden in the UK and at the halfway mark was doing well. Results should come soon.
