yes, Rusty gave me a tuber of Anita Bonita (named after his wife Anita Ritchie) and I just planted it out! Bad pic, I just took this while outside planting for my own records to update my spreadsheet later.

20th Ave Memory, it’s late in the season for buying this one but if anyone knows of a place it’s still for sale I’d be interested in knowing. Im fine waiting till next yr to. Just putting it out there on the possibility of someone having an over abundance of tubers or cuttings.

Does anyone have, or know where to acquire "Blooms Kehala"? I have an older friend who lost this dahlia and is trying to find it. It is a red waterlily.

katyaker If you find it, let me know! I've been hunting for her everywhere, and I do mean EVERYWHERE. I'm marrying Lewie Bloom's (the breeder) great-granddaughter this September and I have been trying desperately to find as many of his dahlias as I can. Kehala is one that has seems to have disappeared in just the last three years...

That’s totally fine. 😊 I think every Gardner ( at least I do) has the words “ there’s always next year” as one of the top phrases in their gardening vocabulary.

Does anyone have or has anyone seen Fidalgo Splash? It was my daughters favorite when she was little and I haven’t seen it for years. I’d love to get it back.

DarcyD Fidalgo Splash has been on my wish list for years. I had it years ago and love it!

DarcyD It looks like Parks Dahlias had a picture up of Fidalgo Splash at some point. Might be worth contacting them to see if they still grow it. Good luck!

Fidalgo Splash: Richard Matthies did the Fidalgo varieties and he lived somewhere in Western Washington(Fidalgo Island?). I bet it would be available at the club sales near there. We grew it in about 1995. I saw somewhere that someone had Bristol Stripe for sale(our club sale?). It was nice too.

BackyardBouquets_17 Kennedy has this right now as a fall cutting. I got one along with a few others. Now let's have a powwow on keeping fall cuttings alive over winter. 🙏

Fidalgo Splash: I find it interesting that something we grew in the early 1990s and is a 1972 variety is now a unicorn. The late Richard Matthies bred it and he was also a rhododendron breeder. And you all know, Fidalgo is the name of the island where he lived and it is not far away from Camano Island.
