Do most/all of the trial gardens grow organically or do they spray non-organic chemicals and use snail bait? At our trial garden most things are done organically. Lime and dolomite lime are organic. Alfalfa meal or pellets, chicken feather meal, gypsum for sulfur, No phosphorus is added as soil test is still high. I cannot remember what is used for potassium.
At the Bonneyville trial garden they used only urea(46-0-0) for fertilizer as the soil test said all other elements were fine. My information is old however. At Tacoma they use a long list of fertilizers but I have not read it recently.
Slugs and snails are not an issue for us and the peacocks that dined on new foliage are long gone.
