Kelgai Ann seedling. Large leaves that are really dark green. Dark stems. Blooms about 6.5 across. Goes to sleep at night. This stem is bent from me having an organza bag on cinched really tight while it was trying to grow taller, oops. Fully aware this isn’t a show flower. I like it, it’s a fun one for me!

I find the tiny white tips on these petals interesting. This is a Steve O seedling. I didn’t grow Steve O this year because it tends to be pretty clockfaced for me, but all of my seedlings from it have had interesting and unique traits (although this is the only one out of five I’ll be keeping). I may need to get a tuber or two to grow again next year.

Here is that black anemone seedling I showed early in the summer. It is seedling form HH Black Beauty and it is now about 10 feet tall! I did manage to snatch this one down to where I could take it inside . The good news is that it is now down from 10 petals to 8 around the puff.... and puff is nice and full. The outer petals are kind of every which way in how they roll...I definitely want to grow this again next year and see how it behaves. IN the meantime I kove it for its crazy performance...and how much it has entertained me this summer!

All the flowers i this central vase were from the HH Black Beauty seedlings.

calico20hill that anemone is cool! I have an hard time imagining a 10’ tall anemone! 🤣

The others in the Owl vase are all HH BLack Beauty seedlings from this year...so many keepers!

Juliarugula I'll try to get a pic but not sure I can get far enough away to show the whole plant...And they get the most sun of anything in the garden so I don't think they are stretching for it...Blame it on the Hollyhill tall timber genes! My other super tall ones seem to get a bit shorter every year thereafter so hopefully this one will eventually bring its blooms down to eye level. On the other hand its kind of fun to have an anemone tree full of black flowers!

calico20hill 10 feet tall! Oh my! But I can see why! HHBB was advertised as 4 1/2 feet on swan island website……lies 😂 it is too tall for me to reach up to put organza bags on blooms. I might be adding a step stool to my yard.

I love the color of that anemone, glad you were able to reach a bloom to show us! The anemone type has really grown on me this year. Also I love the “seedling family photos” or “all seedlings of ____” type of photos! It’s so fun to see the variety! And realize they are all siblings or half siblings

Providing it made good tubers, I plan to multiply this one next year. It is just awesome in a bouquet! Also a number of nice looking other ones in combinations of reds, yellows and oranges that came from the HH Black Beauty seeds. And there is another anemone opening in my vase that has soft orange and gold petals with a rusty orange center. Will try to get a pic when it is opened out.

A few more first year seedlings: I still have about 15% left to bloom, but they all have buds so I think I'll see them before frost. First and second are between 4-6 inches. The last one is just around 2.5 inches and the seed parent is Lakeview Lady on that one.

There are not enough fully double 2 inch flowers and 2.5 inch is very rare and the small flowers on that plant may be 2 inches to make it into the micro class. And it is very pretty.

Teddahlia Thanks! Hoping I can get a couple more blooms out of it before frost so I can better assess it, but it's getting tagged for next year!

SteveM Thanks Steve! Went overboard this year and did around 4000 seedlings, I've been pulling the rejects out as they bloom which helps clear up space. Not quite sure how many I have tagged for another year, but it's a good amount.
