KitCMC That is so unbelievably cold, I can’t really comprehend wind chills 27-35 degrees below zero. I hope schools have been cancelled for your cuties also — and/or maybe your northern blood runs hot and this is nothin’?! 🤯

Portland does not get really cold in the winter. In the last 35 years there has not been a low temp in single digits. Below 0F occurred last in 1950.

It's downright frigid here. My 15 y.o. son's school canceled class today and tomorrow. We've been taking this extra time home to binge watch House. Also he taught me how to invest in the stock market via CashApp. I'm getting into it and the good news is it has kept me from perusing more dahlia sales.

Michigan always has really varied weather this time of year. A 40 degree temperature swing is extra wild though.

It is supposed to be crazy warm today and tomorrow then drop back to normal cool temps. Fog has decended and that should keep the temperature a bit cooler.

calico20hill 81 degrees right now north of Portland, OR. Sky is overcast now. Severe thunderstorms supposed to happen tonight and it sure feels like it. I've moved my potted plants inside and just hope we dont get the potential huge hail stones that could break the greenhouse. I picked flowers from my flowering current bush in case it gets beat up by the storm.

Hail and heat - that's August here... The 5 inches of snow we got on Monday is mostly melted.

Teddahlia I would buy this! I actually think these bedding dahlias seem like a good option for a large container display or filling in gaps in your garden. Using them in the same way many people use annual flowers. All the color and interest like annual flowers except this one will come back again next year!

blown_dry Back down to normal Portland area temps tonight, whew! That was weird.

blown_dry Tuesday and Wednesday were in the low 80's here in Sonoma County California. Today it was a high in the 50's I think, with scattered showers. I did a double take when my phone weather alerted that Thursday would be 30 degrees cooler than Wednesday. Yesterday and today I started basil, cucumbers, squashes, and a few flowers to transplant into my garden. Everything went under warm grow lights to facilitate germination. I started tomato and pepper plants around the same time as my Dahlia seedlings, about 3-4 weeks ago.
