I will have to admit, I would not know a gopher if I met it face to face. I am assuming I don't have them because I have not found evidence of gnawed on tubers nor have I seen any strange 4 legged beasties in my garden. Do tall fences stop them? We have 6' "Critter fence" around the garden , with matching gates.. MAybe they don't like ducks? Or maybe they don't like digging in the hard clay soil? We definitely have moles and they push up under the ground cloth and make lumps that can make getting around the beds a bit of a challenge. They seem to like it when we are watering the garden beds. Anyhow, I am not disappointed that gophers have not figured out how to get into my dahlias,,,,😧. And grateful if the Critterfence we put up to keep deer and bigger varmints out of the garden works on small rodents as well, There is plenty of wildlife that parades through here, though we seldom see it.it is all woodland and mountains out to nearly the coast once you get past our close neighbors.
