Teddahlia I have seen it be brown many more times than not. Here is a picture.
I disagree that that’s brown though. Your brain is just combining the dark red and bright yellow colors when seen from a distance. To me, it doesn’t even look brown from the distance of the photo.
Question about the form though. When I see a photo like this (often from a show), I sometimes wonder. Why do the tips of the petals on that bloom point when mine lay flat. Is it most likely
A) my stock isn’t as good as that stock B) my climate/weather/soil isn’t conducive to the proper form of that variety or C) the grower knows something I don’t about how to get the petals to curve to points at the end (or whatever form trait I’m wondering about at the time, but it’s usually about the curl of the petals behaving in an ideal way). Or possibly D) could be a combination of any of the above.
