AC Sandra J. Some of her back petals are a little tired but I’m tired, too, so it’s ok.

Leo Jelito. Really wish I would have pulled that bud in front off . Leo started out very, very vibrant highlighter yellow but has softened as the season has progressed, thank goodness.

Hollyhill Black Widow with a few rain droplets. Like many, she is one of my favorites (in addition to HHBB.) This year I’m growing 10 plants of HHBW & their bed in particular is one of the spots I enjoy walking past the most. Unlike HHBW, all 5 of my HHBB tubers either were eaten or rotted this year. I cried when I discovered the last one chomped so I’m especially glad to have so many Black Widow plants blooming their heads off. To be able to cut 10+ flowers of one variety & still have so many more to enjoy in the garden is something I’ve longed to be able to do for years & having one of my favorite dahlias be the first I’m able to it with is a very special experience.

Krista Looks like you’re having some beautiful weather too!
Ha! Not yet. It was close to 90 today and has been for the past week. Going on months with very little rain. Tomorrow looks like we’ll finally be stepping into fall weather.
My Sandia Barbie usually has a couple of the darker pink wolf petals, so definitely a bit wild. Some of the blooms can be a bit messy but they’re big and bright and fun. It’s also been a fairly good bloomer for such a large sized bloom!

TNB Ms Bubbles. She’s cute.
I think I took the exact same photo! Ha!
Bessie thank you. I agree & am the same. I like to see what they look like in different light, different times of day, different growing environments, etc, to get a better grasp of what they actually look like. I’m not spectacular at picture taking and everything is taken w/my iPhone on portrait setting most of the time but there’s something about a raw, unedited photo of a bloom still on the plant, straight from the garden that will always appeal to me.
Raw unedited pictures OFTEN do not look at all like the flower in the garden. Light is everything and if the light is right, then the cell phone does a good job. Too bright, too dark and colors are off. Yes, a picture of the flower on the plant can be nice and a picture of flower that has been picked and posed in a vase shows how it can look off the plant.
