Here are those little fluffy baby ducks at 5 months of age. These are Ancona Ducks...my favorite breed.

The one with the curly tail feather is one of the 2 males. (1 flock dad and a spare). I have another male and female who are beyond camera range when I took this.

They are! And they are supposed to come in all different colors of splotches and dots. I could only find this source when the time came. Normally there would be white/fawn, brown, pearly grays all mixed in in various propertions and that is how the flocks should be grown. They are good strong healthy ducks with mild temperaments. THey seem to do just fine as bug eaters ...they are most amusing to watch while I am working in the garden!

Ian wants ducks one day and you’re selling me on this breed. I’ve seen photos online of the other colors and patterns Anconas can have and they’re all gorgeous. Yours have such sweet expressions. ❤️

Baring any more predator attacks, let me know when you want ducklings. I will likely have them next spring. One little female appears to have more colors (like they should) and I am curious what color ducklings she might have.

We had to get another dorper ram to ensure we didn't end up having a herd with a shallow gene pool. His name is Prince and he has managed to be majestic and a goofball. He jumps around and dances when it's time to be fed.

Keeping everyone separated into certain groups is proving to be a pain as our herd slowly grows every year.

KitCMC most dorpers have the black heads and everything else is white but there's been some variations. The ewes seem to have them most of the time.

Victory! First half of the deck that tried to eat me is replaced! Next half need sto wait a month until next pay period but the half of the deck I access to get in and out of the house is now almost complete!

And more good news...the swamp that tried to eat my hydrangea garden will have a major drainage channel installed starting Tuesday! There should be no more rotting roots in this little peice of paradise I am making!

Lovely weather today. Finally not too hot..I think it got up to 79 degrees but with a nice breeze. I was actually trying to post a later pic of the deck work. Husband says it just needs 2 more boards and a narrow filler peice to fill the framework. . He's doing this the way he likes to manage the money..Next Payday he will do the other half of the deck. But I now have a safe pathway from the gate into the house. And the uneven spaces between the boards should even out as the wood dries completely.

And the first half is done! Now to wait for October and the 2nd half....IN the meantime he has someone coming t olook at the hot tub that was here when we bought the place and that he has not been able to get to work,. Hopefully, this will give us a definitive answer as to whether it can be fixed or will be removed. It is supposed to be a top of the line model but not sure how loong ago that was.....
