SteveM 'Hollyhill Aurora' and the pink sport of 'Maarn' are both (what my broker calls) "hot pink". I like them both and both are strong growers.
Juliarugula SteveM I forgot about Hollyhill Aurora! I have it and love it! Although last year I had trouble with occasional shattering. Not sure if it was the weather or what. I didn’t notice that the year before.
Teddahlia We have some pink flowers that may be introduced next year. As far as cut flower potential they are a half size too big meaning that they are about 5-6 inches in diameter. I believe that the sweet spot for most cut flower is 4 inches. Any comments?
SteveM Teddahlia I believe that the sweet spot for most cut flower is 4 inches. Any comments? 4 inches does seem the ideal size. However, a 4" dahlia will only be a 3" dahlia after a few flushes (in most cases). That means I need to plant 5-6" size dahlias to get 4" size dahlias at mid-season. I don't grow many Min dahlias because they are almost Pom size at peak season. There is nothing wrong with small dahlias except I get paid less per bloom. A small Min dahlia takes just as long to cut/bundle as a BB size dahlia but I get paid (much) less per stem.
Clover Teddahlia My favorite size of dahlias for flower arrangements is in the 4-6 inch range, so not too big for me.
BarryO A favorite pink bloom of mine, although it’s large and not suitable as a cut flower, is Hollyhill Big Pink. If grown properly for show, it can be stunning. ,
Juliarugula BarryO I have already picked up a couple of tubers of HH Big Pink for this summer! Glad it’s a good one!
MissyWeitzel Juliarugula I really liked Tahoma April but lost my stock. That was more of a hot pink but man it had great stems. I think some people in our swap group have it. Lismore Peggy is a nice pink pompon. It makes seeds too, if you're into that. 😄Camano Love is a MB that was new to me this past season and I think it's classified as lavender but it reads more pink to me. It makes a lot of flowers. Apparently it is productive in the sprout category too. I started 1 kinda small tuber a month ago and I was going to retire it a while ago but after 15 cuttings it shows no sign of slowing down or wimpy sprouts yet!
Juliarugula MissyWeitzel I really liked Tahoma April but lost my stock. I had Tahoma April for a couple of years and never got a bloom from it so I gave up. Maybe I just had some bad stock…
Emilyp Juliarugula Westerton Pearl was fabulous for me last season. Bloomed early and kept going strong all season.
Emilyp Juliarugula Westerton Pearl is in the middle on the bottom. Right above it is KA's Keltie Rose and 20th Ave Memory.
JessieC Emilyp Wow that’s a beautiful bundle! I’ve had Pink Sylvia, which was a true bubblegum pink, but I just didn’t love the form.
Teddahlia Took some pictures of the ones we did not keep in 2006. I would like to rent the time machine from Back to the Future....
