SteveM I just reserved my hotel room today and wrote to my pal to remind her she said she would come, and we would split the cost of the room. It would be nice to have that room fee cut in half :-). I live not that far away but this way I can totally take time off of from my family life and not have to remind the home guys to do their jobs or ask what we are eating and did it get taken out of the freezer...." I get to just go, see interesting places, meet and greet my many "dahlia people" friends and eat good food....YES! Actually I don't remember any of the food from 20 years ago but I remember it was quite nice.
I am hoping they will have a current covid booster shot before the show dates so I can get boosted against the newest strain before the gathering of the great Dahlia Clan.
It was 20 years ago that I first attended this show and it was way more wonderful then I anticipated. I attended the one in Seattle several years later (I don't remember the date but I took my sister with me to that one and we had a ball.) We visited Verrrone's Dahlias, Clearview Dahlias and I don't remember the other one right now..OH, I think it was Connell's out at Les and Viv's house. Oh yes, and The Walton's also at their home under the Narrows Bridge in Tacoma! That was not very long after I joined Washington State Dahlias so a lot of the "Stars" of the dahlia world I was meeting for the first time.
With the Portland Dahlia Show we went to Hollyhill Dahlias and I got to see what Ted and Margaret were doing for the first time, after meeting Ted on line here. I'm going to see if my daughter who lives not far from the conference area might want to join us on one of the outings. Maybe her husband can mind their 3 yr old long enough for her to take a bit of time off with me . She would love all the photo opportunities:-)
