Getting the photo party started with some oldy but goodies. I got a new camera for my birthday this year so can't wait to take more pictures this summer....

I took up flower arranging as a pandemic hobby and quickly became interested in growing flowers, as well as finding sources for locally grown blooms. It’s been such an interesting time, to say the least.

Teddahlia I am foggy on this but I seem to recall reading a quote of yours somewhere that the petals of this one have a deep-colored reverse. I try peering closely at each photo I see of this elusive beauty but I've not seen one that showcases this quality. Which makes me think my memory is failing me. Beautiful bloom and photo!

As this bloom ripens the dark spots on the bloom bleed into the background.

HH Wicked Witch's seedling in PA. I unfortunately lost my HHWW plant. My sister has babied the same HHWW tubers since we acquired it. We found seeds the first year only. It's other seedlings where larger blooms in the yellow, amber, champagne color group but open centered. And then there is this one which I have been calling Hocus Pocus. It's form isn't as great as it's mama but I now have 30 tubers of this beauty. This year will be the make it or break up with it year. HH genetics run strong in this one with long, firm stems on a 5-6' plant.

Cosey "Hocus Pocus" is a darling, fingers crossed for it this year. HH genetics certainly appears to run strong and long, firm stems on a 5-6' plant are very appealing.

Another photo from my 2022 harvest. I found this cute little vase at a rummage sale. I think it’s for tulips, but with a little “McGyver-ing” it makes a fine vessel for dahlias. Have a happy Monday everyone!

SteveM Thank you! That is Sylvia Craig Hunter, which wowed me last season. And for anyone who’s interested, the others (clockwise,) are Parkland Tribute, Miss Amara (2,) Maarn, Rose Toscano, and Jessie G.
Krista It is ceramic! The lid comes off so you can fill it with water (and also chicken wire, in this case.)

Your pics are such a welcome shot of color! I have always wanted to grow ms prissy - I love how swoopy the petals are - was it very floriferous for you?

Darce Moderately floriferous. I do love it. Last year it faded, so not sure if I grew a dud or it degraded, or what. This year (of the pic) it was lovely...maybe it was a slightly more shaded spot. It definitely changes color with the temperature.

I lost my Ms Prissy last year after enjoying it for many years. It was part of the "horrible tuber year" losses. It is pretty when it blooms but it fades a lot in bright sunlight. It is also a fairly short plant so it easily gets over grown by more aggressive ones. I don't know whether I will replace it or see if I can get a different Boley introduction instead. I do like the form on Ms Prissie and similar on Born Sly. I usually grew them next to each other, but I think I will stick to taller plants now so they have more of a fighting chance.

calico20hill Ms Prissy isn’t short for me. It’s not Ted tall but it gets around 4.5-5 feet for me. Let me know if you want a tuber if she pulls through after that weird growing year. I’m not very confident on tuber survival this year.

JessieC Its very neat, I’ve never seen another like it. Chicken wire is a great idea too!
