MissyWeitzel This season is So exciting! It sounds like we will both be on the hunt for Irish Blackheart for next season, what a stunner - hopefully your three alternatives are at least pretty blooms this year!

Did you order from Etsy? That’s where I got my Eeekk! Tubers. I was pretty pleased that they bloomed true to ID! They were definitely tiny, but both are very healthy plants. It was a good experience - I need to keep an eye on the seller for more tubers this year.

Love your show photos! I have some nice vigorous stock of HH Bewitched also. It’s very floriferous - one of the better bloomers in my garden. Is the last photo HH Pink Tigress? I’m growing that one this year too, but the plants have been very slow growing - no blooms yet.

Juliarugula I bought my tuber of HH Pink Tigress from Tall-Grass and it ended up being a yellow/red-speckled variegated ball dahlia. 🙁

Juliarugula Yes! Wyn’s Eeek!! I ordered from Etsy, I’ll bet we ordered from the same place. I peeked at their IG account and confirmed they had photos of this variety before purchasing. I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for their sale next season too!

And my last photo above was indeed HH Pink Tigress, what a beauty! Total and complete swoon when I laid eyes on her. I hope yours bloom true!

edewitt Juliarugula I also orderd Brooksie, she’s been super slow for me too. Very short spacing between leaf sets and only about a foot tall - I’m very curious about what will happen! Josephine Mae is something!

Update on my Tall Grass farms HH Pink Tigress tubers (I bought 2 of them).

The first bloomed as a yellow/red speckled ball. Maybe Hollyhill Spreckles, as I think Tall Grass grows that one?

The second one isn’t open yet, but the bud is looking promising for a pinkish variegated WL, so yay!

She’s not fully open yet, but I thought Colleen Mooney looked so beautiful with the rain one her petals.

Bonhoeffer again - I thought this photo captured the bloom particularly well.

Finally getting some closed centers on a few of the Rivers dahlias that were giving me trouble. River’s Dark Chocolate is really dark. I have one in a bouquet and it’s like a black hole. Kind of cool.

Josephine Mae ended up a lot nicer than I thought it would be. My Brooksie plant is taking it's sweet time growing though. I'm thinking JM, Brooksie, and Bonhoeffer all have some similar parents.

edewitt my Brooksie is slow growing too. I bought two tubers. One completely stalled out after the first two leaves. I have no clue what’s going on - just two healthyish looking leaves that haven’t changed at all since May. The other plant is nice and bushy and healthy looking while on the smallish side, but it still looks to be a while before blooming.

PSDA just posted an image of Clearview Ginger on IG and I just happened to snap a photo of what I believe to be it when we stopped by the Tacoma trial garden on our way from the show this weekend. When I took the photo I didn’t know the name of course, but it grabbed my eye because the color is so vivid and extraordinary! Unfortunately this photo doesn’t do it justice, hopefully we see more of it at the shows this month!

The last time I successfully grew Hollyhill Big Pink was with pot roots I ordered from Les Connell back for the 2012 season. I ordered a tuber last year and it grew about 8" tall and then just shriveled up and died. I'm glad it survived this year, it's nice having it back.

Hollyhill Aurora! I was worried I might not have this one this year. Grew it last year and it made two whole tubers. I saved mom also. When I started cuttings in winter, neither mom nor tuber #1 sprouted, so I ordered a backup from Hollyhill, which also didn’t work out. So I was crossing my fingers for that last tuber!!

"Hollyhill Tiger Rose" - 5" WL - a lot of great qualities. Long, strong stems. Very prolific. First 10 blooms on my only plant were all equally colored/variegated and, so far, no sports. This is important for cut flowers because, in many cases, the sported solid color is not attractive and wastes a spot in the garden. The few solid, dark-red, wolf petals I have seen so far on Tiger Rose hint that the solid sport of this one might be very desirable. I love the color of this girl but wonder if she would sell at the market?
