NCDahlia Oh I’ve heard lots of ~~coke~~ [Edit: “vole” 😅] damage this year, I’m sorry it’s been a rough season for you. The top waterlily shown is HH Daydream! She seems to be a dustier pink for me which is more muted than other photos I’ve seen of her online. Definitely a gem, and has been in neck & neck competition with Sandia Bertha as most floriferous of all other varieties - and these two are crushing it by a long shot.

First bloom from Clearview Pataha - looking much more pink than shown in Lobaugh’s photos. I’m interested to see how the season progresses, and compare with more photos of this one in other gardens. I like this pinker version, for what it’s worth.

Now that I’m looking more closely at Lobaugh’s site, I’m beginning to wonder if this is a mislabel?

Krista Sometimes mislabels work in your favor. Whatever it is, I love the color.

Krista Well my Pataha has not bloomed yet but when it does I will see what mine is like. MIne was the one who's tuber tried to rot, and I saved it with only the tiniest stub let. It has my permission to take extra time to bloom...It was the new one I was most excited about But Clearview Nieve has certainly been putting out the blooms!

There's something weird about Zwink that's difficult to capture for me at the moment but the best description is that it's either an informal decorative or a stellar (more likely) that's decided to become an incurved cactus halfway through the petals forming. My Bloomquist Jean is huge and forming huge petals while my Brooksie plant is taking it's sweet time. Connell's has offered some great intros lately.

edewitt It's like a somewhat symmetrical mini cluster of Calla lilies blooming.

edewitt I’m growing Zwink too. It’s a really weird bloom, and I kind of can’t decide what I think of it. It hovers in this weird place between super boring/basic (messy white informal decorative with purple tips) and totally bizarre/unique (all the other things - ha!). It looks like yours has a lot more of that weird tan color than mine did. One odd thing I’ve noticed so far is that it seems to have a particularly good vase life.

Oh these photos of Zwink are making me very antsy for mine to bloom. Likening them to a “symmetrical mini cluster of Calla lilies” is very on point, edewitt.

Juliarugula Your bloom looks so tidy in comparison to what I’m expecting! Looking forward to seeing what I end up with - I’ve got just one bud that’s about 11 days out.

AndreaB AC Edmonds was introduced this year. The photo is deceptive, partially because of the lighting and partially because the bloom has faded a lot. It’s a pretty bright dark red. I’ll see if I can find a photo in the garden…

Thanks for posting a pic, Julia. I like it. Curious if it’ll be similar to AC ATM (In my head that’s what I expect it to look like). I’m growing that this year and still waiting on blooms.

Krista Your bloom looks so tidy in comparison to what I’m expecting!

It kind of moves back and forth between tidy and not throughout the opening process…. But overall, mine has indeed been tidier than expected.

Another new one from River's Dahlias that has standout color is WB's Bailey Dawn. I took this picture just as the sun was coming up and still behind trees. It looks like it glows and it is also variegated but in a muted sort of way, plus has super dark stems. Very different and pretty.

MissyWeitzel I'm in love with my WB's Bailey Dawn. The color is very unique. She is also a great cut flower.

Anybody growing Bootsie? I really love her too, but her stems are pretty short.

Honnat I really like my River's Cherry Bomb. She is a darker red than anticipated, so I will need to find another lighter red dahlia that is floriferous and makes a good cut. Any suggestions? I would like to order something from River's. I know a lot of people in 'dahlialand' ordered from them.

So funny - Bailey Dawn was very much not my thing. I actually ended up pulling my plant, not because there was anything wrong with it, but just because I disliked it so much. 😬. And I hardly ever do that.

Glad to hear she has some fans!
