Teddahlia Peaches and Cream is not the same as Peaches-n-Cream

drewtheflorist I corrected my post to Peaches-N-Cream. Show-N-Tell has that same "N" in the middle. My overall theme is that Peaches_N_ Cream is an outstanding cut flower and an excellent show flower and that is very rare. However, I wonder if it is a good seed parent.

Show-N-Tell never makes seeds and I do mean never having checked pods for seeds for many years. Margaret is threatening to use it's pollen on a likely candidate. It is our favorite large dahlia in the Fall.

Here are a couple of pretty seedlings. The bronze gold is a bb. The red is much smaller.

I like the golden one and would guess it is a seedling of Bloomquist Jean.

Teddahlia I did not have Bloomquist Jean in my garden last year. So unless the bee flew from one o f my 2 dahlia growing neighbors......I will check what the seed parent was next time Iam in the garden. The new buds opening now are getting pretty interesting...And I have only had about 3 in the seedling rows that were open centered so that is rather exciting. I must be doing better at seed collection.

I tend to like PNC as a pollen parent. It seems to pass on some fun coloring and sometimes the beautiful graceful form. I get lots of closed centers.

THis is not the pic I was trying to download. BUt it was my red seedling last year. THis year they are twice as large. I like them both ways for their color that doesn't fade at all.

Another Berries Au Lait seedling. Hmmm, its kind of a dirty white but lets call it "Parchment". The center looks a bit loose but I have quite a few more seedlings from BAL to check out.

Bessie I've grown Honka, a yellow orchid & it has a wonderful fragrance. It reminds me of a grandmas perfume 😂🌼

The first bloom( bottom and left) on seedling 23043 looked similar to Hollyhill Black Beauty or Black Magic, but the subsequent flower( top and right) that's currently blooming looks similar to a 3" waterlily and is a lighter coloring. I'd appreciate feedback on how common it is for the flower form to morph on a seedling. Seed parent is Hollyhill Creamy.

Seedlings can be variable until they settle down. Unfortunately the changes are more likely to be negative than positive but it works both ways. Looks to be a waterlily now? We have had them morph from an excellent waterlily to be a crappy bloom the next year.

Teddahlia thank you, I knew you'd have personal experience to convey .The morphing was a surprise to me, but being a novice at growing dahlia seedlings I have much to learn and appreciate input.

I am really enjoying the seedlings I Am getting this year. ITs the 3rd year for me of working with my Salish Berries Au Lait and Salish Twiight Girl seedlings. ALso a subset from Salish Twilight Girl where she is pink instead of Lavender and I call those Salish Lullabye. HEre are some of this years seedling blooms.

THe Gladiolas are just because they match the dark dark dahlia seedling. THey are something I got last year and they look pretty at the end of the dahlia row,
