THat was probably about how much I pruned them/. I don't remember exactly now as it has been 4 years since we moved but no matter how much I pruned it it just loved to take off and grow like crazy. And so healthy!

I happened to be at Home Depot this morning while they were restocking orchids. Was very tempted by the light yellow one. It’s common here to attach them to trees or grow them in coconut husk.

HiDahlia Oh I'm tempted from here! Even though I can't seem to keep indoor plants alive to save my life, there's a very special place in my heart for orchids.

Krista my house is a death sentence for all indoor plants, but orchids aren’t so bad. If you get them when they’re first opening, they’ll bloom with just about zero care for about three months.

I kept trying to keep them alive and get them to rebloom after that but I’ve given up now. But I know some people are quite successful at it. Probably people who are more attentive to their indoor plants than I am…

Juliarugula Oh I like this stance, thinking about orchids as a temporary houseguest is a great idea! I’ll of course try to keep them alive but this way I’ll be more encouraged to just bring the blooms home to enjoy. I’m always enchanted by homes filled with thriving plant life, but unfortunately I’ll most likely never live in one. 🤣

My trick to keeping indoor plants alive is…put them outside, lol. Every time I’ve brought an orchid or other houseplant inside, I can’t seem to keep them healthy. But since Hawaii is basically one big greenhouse, out they go. Here is a photo of the houseplant golden pothos (climbing the trees). Sadly, most every plant in this photo is invasive.

Oh for a woodland full of orchids! I have one little orchid that was left in the kitchen windowsill by the previous owner of this house. I totally ignore it except for a little water when I think of it It blooms 3 times a year for me. Its still in the same little stonewear pot and this is our 4th year here. It is a cute little thing but if it died iI would not cry over it....which is probbvly why is keeps blooming so nicely.

PegMc Thought to share now that I'm getting those impulse buy roses planted, I am VERY impressed with the quality of bare root stock sent to me by Menagerie. Not so much those from Heirloom Roses - Night & Day DIFFERENCE. The canes on the bare root/Menagerie selections are a good 5X times larger than those of the Heirloom Rose selections which are puny and sad looking. Very disappointed!

Teddahlia I don't know, but it's the only African Daisy I grow.
