This season has been warmer than last year’s weather, here in Central Washington. We are hovering in the 50’s for daytime temps with nighttime lows in the mid 40’s. It’s been raining today and we’re forecasted for more rain over the next 3-4 days.
I planted crimson clover foolishly in my dahlia beds, far too late in the season. I didn’t prepare to cover crop, and just had an old bag of seed in the stores so I just tossed it out - what the heck. It’s coming up, and has made it through a couple very light frosts and I’m curious just how long it’ll make it. I’ve just covered my beds lightly with some hay and have been cheering on the clover even though I know it won’t make it through the winter.
I find cover cropping difficult when digging tubers as late in the season as I did this year. Does anyone have any experience with extra late-season cover cropping (end of Nov, and I’m in Zone 6b)? I should have ordered a cover crop that wouldn’t winter kill but I had no idea we’d have such unseasonably high temps this far into December.
[Edited] I loved AC R& R this year
