Juliarugula Yes, I feel silly because I looked it up on this site I should be familiar with and Rivers had it last year and Bloomtown looks to be offering it for this year. Meanwhile! I checked out my own stock and there is a healthy stalk, but both tubers are rotted. Not sure what to do. I should have watered more so it would make new tubers.

blown_dry could you try taking cuttings from the laterals? Or is the plant too far gone?

blown_dry I got it from River’s last year. So long as it makes tubers, I’m happy to share.

Al Almand looks a lot like the N. Fluff, at least in my memory from long ago.

@MissyWeitzel @KitCMC Thank you for your help! The tubers seem a complete loss. The upper one is not even attached now. What can be done? The growth seems healthy and has it's own roots.

blown_dry I would prepare a small pot with something you can use as a humidity dome. Clear plastic cups work well. Moisten the soil moderately, use a pencil or something similar to poke a hole in the soil. Cut the new growth where I indicated here with sanitized snips making a nice clean cut and stick it in the soil. Put the dome on and put the pot under a grow light for at least 12 hours a day. Look at it periodically for the first couple days and if it looks wilted at all, mist the leaves and put the dome back on. Once the first 2 days pass you don't need to check on it as often, just make sure the soil is still moist. It will hopefully root for you! Feel free to email me any time if I can help! 😊

MissyWeitzel Awesome! Thank you. Is this meant to give another plant as increased chance of success? This stalk is already "rooted." It has it's own roots, just no tubers. And then keep under lights during the winter?

blown_dry it's just extra insurance against losing something that's really hard to replace. I'd definitely keep the part that is rooted already too. Yes, keep inside under lights. If both survive you can pot them up as they get larger and let them grow into bigger plants or treat one/both as "mothers" and take more lateral cuttings off of them to increase your stock. A few of my friends regularly do fall cuttings like that of dahlias, roses, and other plants and have a lot of new plants by spring starting with just a few cuttings. 😊

Mi Wong is a genuine unicorn. Tubers nearly impossible to find. I believe a rooted cutting will be auctioned by our club. There is a seedling of Mi Wong that is more suitable for most non show growers and it was bred by Kevin Larkin. It is called Elfin. https://kitsapdahlias.org/product/elfin/
It classified as a dark blend but my memory of it is that it is just barely darkeenough for that category.

Seems like last year Sungate sold some tubers of Mi Wong. Maybe. Possibly before his sale got going.?

If anyone has this one and would want to sell it directly I would be interested. I’m looking to add a few more water lily forms as well so if there r others I may be interested in some of them as well. It’s getting to the point I do not enjoy dahlia shopping because either you pay a ridiculous amount in shipping to get the things you want or half the things disappear from your cart so if someone wants to sell directly I’d be more than happy to do that.

I agree about the shopping.

I was given a Caroline Wagemans cutting last year. It did not impress me much. Maybe it did not enjoy my Oregon garden. I don't remember if it made tubers. If so, I might just pass it on to you. I'll be doing a tuber check in the next few days and can let you know then. If I forget, remind me .

We grew "Fawn" waterlily and we were unimpressed and will not grow it again. Old waterlilies grow way too short and not vigorously. Our goals for waterlily include plant height and vigor.

Teddahlia I'd agree on Fawn. The first year I grew it, I loved it, but it was grown in part shade. This year it was grown in full sun and I was not impressed. My opinion is that for it to look good, it should be in part shade, but I don't have the time to baby them in that way.
