Juliarugula Julia, I have been growing out a number of seedlings from my Hiro’s Welcome. This year I have gotten a glorious B sized pink out of it. Is yours B sized also? The Original “Hiro’s Welcome bloomed in my seedling patch in fall of 2019 or 2020, just before we moved down to Oregon. This year I have a number of of seedlings going from it including the very pretty B sized pink one.I SUSPECT THAT THE PARENT on those was Wyn’s Pink Pearl but no way to know for sure, It is curlier and frillier then Wyn’s Pink Pearl though I thought for a while it might have been a mislabeled WPP, It is also friller than the original Hiro’s Welcome. How are the stems on your seedlings? Mine are a bit on the thin side…I doubt this one would hold up well to strong winds.
I am not sure Dahlias turn blue or pink with the acidity change? Our soil is also just a bit over into the alkaline range and my Hiro's Welcome's are still blue but I had the one glorious pink seedling that I am naming after my Great Grandmother.... we do lime the soil before planting out.
