Just got this warning from RainTree Nursery where I buy my nursery stock. this is the Nursery company that operates out of my Grandparents old farm in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State. "All Nursery stock order pickups scheduled for the next 10 days or so are cancelled and need to be rescheduled." We were going to go pick up my mini-dwarf apple trees this next week and have lunch with my cousins who live just down the road a mile or two. And yes, the trees could be shipped but then I wouldn't get to see my cousins again unti 4th of July.
Actually, I am grateful because it is a little country road with steep drop offs into our beloved Bear Canyon. (family camp spot on the river). They say it is the last road to be plowed in bad weather. We had an ice storm last year when we picked up our order...ice and sleet falling on the car but were able to drive out of it as we headed southward. So, yup, no get-away planned for the next week now. But the raised beds are ready for the miniature apple trees so they get the roots above the wet clay we live on.
