A few hard frosts lately, but spring is taking hold for sure.

This is good to know ahead of time, thank you! I may plant a few of my less precious tubers there and see how it goes.
I’ve never used Azamax, but anything that eliminates spider mites is excellent to know about! They are the worst.

Dahlia53 - it honestly doesn't get dark. From about May to the end of July the darkest it gets is twilightish. It's not uncommon for me to be out gardening at 1 or 2 AM. We start getting some dark, dark - for just a few hours - in August. Right now we're gaining over 5 1/2 minutes of light per day. Spring is still a long way off though. Have over 6 feet of snow at it was below zero this morning. I had my driveway scraped down yesterday so that when things do start to melt, I don't have to 4x4 my way in from the main road. Scraper found the steps to my front porch. One of the steps did not survive the experience. 🙂

We may get a minor snow event tomorrow morning. We have had quite a few nights that went into the low 20s this year but it almost always warmed to above freezing during the day. My storage area for the tubers and pot tubers was never even close to freezing any tubers this year.

Looking like not a great night for attending PDS monthly meeting in person which I was hoping to do. We are supposed to get an ice storm tonight with temps down to 24 degrees tomorrow night. Darn, not driving through that to get to the meeting and home! I was hoping to go. MY tubers should be in the garage. I did check all my tubers this week and have some out to pot up so I will have to protect them.

It looks like we have an unusual chance for freezing tomorrow night. They are predicting 35F , but that is too close for comfort. I will be moving most cuttings and mother plants into the barn tomorrow night. I can't remember the last time we had a freeze in February.

It was a nice clear 60 degree day yesterday. Today it was sunny clear and warm earlier, then some strong winds came through and now it's snowing.

glad i came here to read this. Gotta bring what's left of the dahlias home from storage before the cold snap next week. dammit! low 20s by the 23rd, daytime temps not much above freezing. well in some ways i am glad. it's been TOO warm here for this time of year. was worried about early pollinators; hoping this will keep blooms on the early flowering fruit trees from opening too early.

Actual freeze last night. Brrr! The neighborhood angel's trumpets are taking the hits. It's one of the more tender plants that will survive the winter around here. The nasturtium is looking poorly too, but it's such a bully that this is secretly pleasing to me. Rather grumpy about my fried salvias. One had just started to bloom.

The wind really picked up and it got colder as the day progressed and our icicles are sideways.

edewitt Beautiful... I've never seen sideways icicles before. Makes me feel like I should put on a coat and throw another log on the fire.🙂

We're about to get hit with 4-7" of snow in Chicagoland. I was just starting to feel 'Springy', too. 🙈

DarcyD oh no. I haven’t been paying attention to the weather reports, but I’m betting we’re in for it too in that case. It’s probably for the best that I don’t get too used to fifty degree weather in February.

Here in CNY, we had almost 70 degrees yesterday, 40s today, and I think we're supposed to get your mid west cold for tomorrow. We're still going to be in the 30s and 40s over the next week, so that's pretty awesome. My friends were in tornado warnings in Mississippi this am. I am 100% sure, we'll get blasted in March with one or more big storms... it happens every single year!

We are still in winter. Supposed to get cold next week and perhaps some snow that will probably not stay around more than a few hours. Cold at night however and that is low 20s.

Teddahlia One advantage of our move to this place is that we are only a block or so from the substation and have never had more then a flicker of power outage. NOw that I have last years seedlings potted up in the greenhouse to grow sprouts, that is a very comforting thought with a forecast like this!
