Here in central VA, we have had the most mild and agreeable springtime that anyone can remember. The nights have been cool, and there hasn’t been a single day that was uncomfortable in terms of heat or humidity. Yet. We know it’s coming!
It has been dry, and I’ve had my eye on the forecast so that I can supplement with my new drip system.
The other day, I noticed the sky had turned a strange gray-green. Even though there were no clouds, the sun was obscured in a strange way. Everyone was coughing, it seemed. We are at the far end of the area affected by the Canadian wildfires, but the air quality was poor on Tuesday and Wednesday. I feel for people north of here who have it much worse!
As if out of nowhere, a storm popped up last night that brought an inch of rain within about 20 minutes, along with violent winds and lightning. I’m hoping that has cleansed the air somewhat. I haven’t gone out to survey damage yet. I had done quite a lot of staking last weekend, and even installed trellis netting, which I’ve not used before. Fingers crossed!
Stay safe, everyone.
