We water the containers once per day with a garden hose. People perhaps overestimate how long it takes to water a container like a hanging basket. I put the hose into the container and count the seconds that vary from 10 seconds to as long as 20 seconds for a large pot. The dahlia pot tubers get watered once per day too . Yes, it takes about an hour per day during the summer. I hand water the flower bed too. Margaret planted more dahlias in 15 gallon pots this year and they are all in a nice row and easy to water when watering everything else.
Margaret is in charge of the display process. Many are hanging baskets. Many are containers on "benches". Many are containers on some type of "pedestal' Some are on top of "logs " placed vertically. And many of the containers are just on the ground. The coleus garden is a shade garden and the 15 gallon (8) pots of coleus and other shade plants are on benches under a tree. Shade plants take less water.
