My Sellwood Glory is on its way from Del's! Hopefully I'll be back in town to unbox it as soon as it arrives because I've had an order where it did not fare very well during shipping and rotted very quickly. That has got to be one of the most finicky tubers I've ever dealt with. The really nice purples seem to be like that for some reason.

edewitt I got Sellwood Glory from a different grower and the tuber looks amazing! I have it potted up to start and plan on taking a few stem cuttings as backup. If yours ends up going kaput, let me know. With luck I'll be able to help.

Sellwood Glory is a sport and that is info for a different thread. Part of Sellwood Glory's issue is it's overall age. It is a 1950 sport of a 1936 flower. Some older ones do OK and Thomas A Edison can look pretty good in the garden,(1929). However, age is an issue as far as vigor.

I just received an email notification saying that the Sellwood Glory I ordered has been cancelled due to a clerical error of inventory, and I’m a bit relieved. 😅 Incredibly, this is my first, ever order cancellation.

It is literally my job to monitor people's inventory obsessively. So I sometimes end up ordering clerical errors. 😅

AKWindWatcher well thank you for the offer and also holy crap the order already arrived at my p.o. box. Looks like he made a label and sent it out almost as soon as I made my order! Last time it took 6 days to get to my place.

blown_dry No real informtion on his site. And not a very good pic of STG. Prices seem low. I wonder if its a beginner? I would like to know more about who this is and what they are doing but it doesn't tell on the website. Does anyone else know this person or farm?

calico20hill @blown_dry - I remember reading something about this grower on one of the Facebook forums. I believe this is his first attempt at a website if I remember the post right and this Virgil is the one behind Virgil's 2019-1 and 2020-8 sold through Honey Bee Dahlias. I haven't ordered from him but the pricing isn't that far off from many other "old school" sellers I've ordered from this year.

In the fall I emailed an old school seller, he said all but one looked good. So I mailed the form and the check. Today I opened a package, that I swore wasn't mine. I then realized the individual bags had cultivars crossed out and new names written out. Soooo I went to my order form. The crossed out names were mine, and the new names are my substitutions. I honestly wasn't sure if I should be upset or not, and then I realized on the seller's form it asked for substitution suggestions and I wrote, "Surprise Me" So that he did. 😆

AKWindWatcher I ordered from Virgil. He and his wife have been growing for about 16 years and sold locally (WA) until 2020. His website is relatively new, but you still have to mail your payment to him. My tubers should arrive this week.

Update:
Tubers arrived from Virgil and look great. Finally found Mingus Leroy T.
Transaction was great. I’d definitely order from him again.

I just received Rossendale Parkey as a teensy, tiny bonus tuber in my last tuber delivery of the year. Here’s a photo I found online - I’ve never heard of this variety before!

Google thinks it must be one of Donald Kershaw's introductions. Here is an article from 2005 when he was 70 years old. If he is still alive he would be 88 now. Looks like a great bonus tuber!

I know RO\ossendale Peach was a lovey dahlia and it was a seed parent of one of my seedlings. Id love a chance at another Rossendale one! I hope it grows well for you and you get tubers to share.
