Juliarugula Lobaughs did a restock including CV Cinnabar, Skipley Swan Song, Skipley Reboot, and Jennie. I’ve been so regretful that I didn’t get Skipley Reboot when I first ordered, so I was pretty happy that it was back in stock!
AndreaB Juliarugula Thanks a lot, Julia (I think). Definitely don’t need any more tubers, but I was kicking myself for not getting CV Cinnabar last year and it was already sold out before I had a chance this year. Skipley Reboot just kind of hopped in my cart, because I can’t bring myself to pay shipping for just one. The addiction has been fed once again!
MissyWeitzel Juliarugula managed to snag Skipley Reboot too, thanks! I've placed like 6 orders with them and they've been really good about refunding shipping too without asking, which is super nice!
Krista Juliarugula Oh thank you for this heads up! I had my eyes on Skipley Reboot too but arrived here too late. I’ll be ready to drool over all of the photos coming out of this group this summer and be prepped with one clear vision for next year’s Lobaugh’s opening! 🤣
Teddahlia My Lobaugh order(Margaret's order and I knew nothing about it) is going to be delivered at our club meeting on Tuesday. Several club members are getting theirs too. Word is that Lobaugh's garage was overflowing with tubers because he is selling for numerous breeders and the new one this year is Clearview.
calico20hill Hmmm, I wonder if he knows that (weather permitting) I plan to be there also? I'll drop him a note.TH\hanks for mentioning this.
calico20hill blown_dry Do you mean the price or what? I think the main thing about the price is that the tubers are slow to mature so its not one that just spits out a million copies of itself. It does reproduce well from rooted cuttings, though. I would say I might get an average of 3-5 tubers off each clump. Its looks like my girl is getting around the country now.
calico20hill blown_dry Yes, that is interesting.....Have we reached saturation point? It would be nice if more people could afford it.
blown_dry Honestly, I just think the sale wasn't well known. They were gone not long after I posted it here. And while I want everyone who wants a unicorn variety to have one even to the point of assisting where I can, I would be just as happy to hear that someone had acquired some hard-to-find Zen about their cravings. Since there are so many equally beautiful varieties that are affordable, even 'unicorn' varieties of yore, I don't see the actual harm in there existing some that are extravagantly priced especially given the uncompensated labor of establishing new variety.
Teddahlia Had a talk with Margaret and I may take an inventory and sell a few more tubers. A few more tubers sales means a few more plants she can buy for her containers. Sometimes the most reliable varieties can poop out on you. HH Aurora for the first time ever decided to rot and I was only able to ship aout 33% of orders. I substituted with some 2023 WL intros.(not really but thought you all would get a kick out of that). Sweet 16 is a very reliable one too and I may sell a couple more tubers. HH Snowfire is being reserved by Margaret.
Krista Teddahlia I aspire to join the ranks as a HH customer one day too! I’ll continue to dream of a day when this might come to fruition. 💭
calico20hill Teddahlia Since you and Margaret are hosting an open house for the National Dahlia Show it seems like Margaret should get every chance to make her garden baskets really shine. Just make sure you save enough dahlia stock for your own gardens!
Crazy_Ivan This is the first year, in many, that I completely missed ordering (never saw the post) so I would love to be counted in, as well!
mr_blown_dry Me: You got a couple tuber orders -- Lobaugh's and BJ's. @blown_dry: Oh, cool! I had a heads up on the Lobaughs but I wasn't expecting BJ's. Me: They're really starting to come in now. blown_dry: Yeah, but there won't be as many as last year, I really reined it in this year. Me: 🤔 O rly? blown_dry: Yes! I only ordered from 15 places. Me: Mmm. blown_dry: <consults spreadsheet> oh... I guess it's actually 29. Me: Ha! blown_dry: But one doesn't count. ...And this year was $100 less than last year. <consults spreadsheet> OK, maybe not. Still, better than the year before... <consults spreadsheet> ...that's not a good example either....
Krista mr_blown_dry I tried to give a laugh emoji but I can only get my response to display as “like.” But I think we can all laugh with you two and very very much relate. I … am scared to review how many orders I’ve placed this year and have been very sheepishly reporting to my partner how much I’m spending on each in an effort to keep myself accountable. He’s being very sweet as well, but I’ve found forcing myself to say totals out loud helps keep me in check. Actually, that’s probably not true. 🤣
KitCMC mr_blown_dry sounds like @blown_dry showed the utmost restraint to me. Excuse me . . . checks mailbox
AndreaB mr_blown_dry Hilarious… and so relatable 🤣 In defense of @blown_dry it’s very easy to forget about a couple, or (ahem) 12 orders.
