I've been enjoying Salish Red Red Red today. This is one I have loved since I saw the first bloom 3 or 4 years ago on a tiny plant. The color is so good...nice and solid and I don't think it fades much either. It is a nice 5" flower on a not too tall plant... 3-4' I think. Anyhow, probably the shortest Salish one I grow. I Picked a couple of blooms for the house today and I just can't keep my eyes off them!

Guys! Hollyhill Cotton Candy! Whoa! I can’t keep my eyes off these blooms! I tried growing her a few years ago and it was very meh - maybe I got super poor stock, but now I’m thinking it had to have been a totally wrong variety because it was nothing like this. Soooo glad I decided to try it again!

Juliarugula after reading and studying Wayne Holland's writings, I think he might be on to something that would explain how a cutting grown plant will sometimes far surpass a tuber grown plant in vigor. blown_dry I actually got these tubers from Triple Wren. Honestly, I’ve wound up with a few problem purchases from them, but this one was good!

I flipped through their site recently though and didn’t see HH Cotton Candy listed anymore. But who knows - seems like they change up their offerings frequently.

Bessie not sure if it’s what you were thinking, but these were tuber grown plants.

However, yes, that is a phenomenon I’ve observed in my own garden!

Juliarugula I was thinking that perhaps the new tuber stock you received had been grown from cuttings and thus was more vigorous. But actually, I just wanted to throw out the info that nematodes, in some cases might affect lack of plant vigor. I should have explained better.

I think I got 2 Triple Wren rooted cuttings this year and one was a KA. I am looking forward to the blooms and hope they are worth the price and hassles to get them. I don't remember right off which ones they were. I think the other might have been a Bloomquist.. I should go look them up and get them back on my radar. I ordered a number of Bloomquists tubers from North Cascades after they opened.

I bought that one last year but it sported to just red. Most of my variegated Hollyhill dahlias reverted to a solid color except for a couple. I do enjoy that picture though. That Bear Creek Sunrise just shines! It looks from the photo that Taratahi Ruby is probably a bit brighter of a near fire truck red with a slight bit of yellow & coral on the inside?

Returned to visit my dahlias finally! We planted and left them on 7/11 and I’m thrilled to find most have begun to come up. I felt like a grown up when I instantly yanked my entire plant of Hollyhill Letitia who was exhibiting very clear signs of virus. Le sigh.

On the bright side, Sandia Bertha is my first bloom for 2024!
