Just a bumble hanging on to dahlia giant Celeste. I wish I could take better macro shots but probably need a DSLR.
2024 - Dahlia Blooms

Love your picture.
Macro photography is a skill set few people have. Special equipment required. Not for me. They often take multiple pictures and combine them into one to get good depth of focus. Cell phones are good enough for me. but I really need to hold it very still.
magucci I love that one too!
bloomhjelm I love Celeste! Thanks for sharing.

My AC Jeremy bloomed this week. I love it. One of my top five for 2024.

I feel so silly. I had been photographing a particular dahlia in my garden and labeling the photos as "Crazy 4 Sophie," but on breaking down that bed, discovered it was Sophie's neighbor.
I love it, but has no label in the ground, and is on my planting plan spreadsheet as "Camano Pet." This would typically mean it was shoved in the hole when my original plant failed. However I don't even have a record of buying another pink fimbriated dahlia.
Only one that maybe looks like the white is " Jennie " which looks a bit like it
NCDahlia I have Jennie, and its florets are narrower and it doesn't go as full pink as the mystery dahlia. Google lens says it is similar to Cabrillo, Millennium, and Aitara Picardy. None of which I ordered. for now am happy to keep it as a personal garden variety.

My flower photography skills are subpar. I also need to reference my ADS color guide.
Carmela Staas is classified as A ID PR.
In my garden I couldn't understand purple, because its red... red red. I know have three blooms in a vase and it's they all are a deep shade of pink. A shade of lipstick I would have worn in high school. But not purple.
Yellow: Baron Barb
This year we grew a Midwest Garden at my mom's house. It only had dahlias from Midwest hybridizers.

Hollyhill Black Beauty signaling the end of summer. Time to dig up the dahlias and put them to bed for the next 7 months.

Brrrrr, Get that poor dahlia a nice warm coat!
Hlollyhill Wedding Day got planted a bit late and there are lots of late blooms. We are keeping a seedling of it that grows about as tall and guess what?, it has white flowers too. Different form but same nice long heavy duty stems.
I will share picture during the depths of the winter when all we have is pictures and no flowers in the garden.
I am figuring out how to use camera zoom + camera macro on my phone. This one is my best so far I think! Look at his fuzzy bee hairs and pollen on his legs! He's resting on a very munched Luan.
The last AC Fernando of the season decided not to have white tips, and wanted white stripes instead.
which brand of cell phone?
Teddahlia I have a Google Pixel 9. I am a loyalist who has only owned Android phones, this is my fifteenth or something. I love the cameras but you do have to fuss with settings.
