Pretty sure this is a Sandia Stargazer from a week or two ago. It has been my surprise favorite this year, ordered on a whim.

Unfortunately between this Midwest heatwave (100 yesterday! 90 today…) and the dreaded C_ kicking my butt, all I can do is look sadly out my window at all my beautiful blooms that I can’t bring in.

Katertot If you're talking about the dreaded C I think you're talking about, I just got over it and it kicked my butt for 2 weeks! Hang in there, your weeds and flowers will be there waiting for you, trust me!

Ok, I'm a little weirdly happy right now. Look at my first bloom of Hollyhill Serenity. I'm so excited! My neighbor Laura lets me grow about 40 plants in her garden. She stole it from me as soon as she saw it. LOL! What a gorgeous flower.

This soft yellow mystery has been taunting me from the window so I finally went down for a closer look. Covid has turned into a nasty head cold so I won’t be crawling around for the tag- this is the last time I neglect to draw a chart.
I think it’s Westerton Lilian, just a little more faded and softer than I remember, and only in the wrong location if I forgot that I planted two. Next year I’ll put it where I don’t have to wade through sunflowers to reach it, but it can get pretty tall.

I purchased some tubers from the Kitsap Dahlia Society this year. I really wanted to grow Hollyhill Black Beauty so I ordered 3 tubers to make sure I had one plant alive at Summers end. I'm past years, the variety hadn't thrived in my yard. I'd love to know the grower of the tubers, as the stock I received looks fantastic. It's just an incredibly beautiful color and flower!

I live in pretty humid climate and usually tend to get split petals that will often times correct by end of September / October.

At last, some blooms worthy of sharing!
Woodlands Wild Thing did not disappoint. This is only the second bloom, but it was a late addition and I stuck it in a grow bag.
The other one is Skipley Spot of Gold. It’s got a fascinating geometric pattern. I like these short squat vases for showing off blooms like this.

Bill Mishler bred Woodland's Wildthing and it was his favorite one he bred. Bill was a brick layer by trade and he was the one who told me if you put bricks into a 5 gallon bucket and fill it with water, the next day the water will be all gone , absorbed by the bricks. He drove a diesel Rabbit pick up for years and got 70 miles per gallon(not really). However it's top speed was something like 55 MPH. He bought a Honda Fit when they came out to make his wife Betty happy.

Betty had good taste in cars. I’m bummed they don’t make Fits anymore and my next car will have to be something else.
