Wow! I checked it out! Some really cool varieties! (But I’m out of room and will already buy more at our dahlia society sale this weekend so I’m telling myself it’s good that I missed it)

i tried with DLP to get Skipley Spot - I love the old timers dahlias! - and it was gone before i could even put it in my cart. So many went so fast! I'm surprised I got any, having to type all the information out on the form, including CC number and all that. I ordered one I have no idea if it's any good but it looked good in the picture: Maks Red Devil. I hope it's bright!

I had found one Hollyhill Sunny Boy at Creekside and was so thrilled... I always ask Kay Kapps 'what is that one' in Dahlia Talk and decided I HAD to have that. Alas, then they pulled my order, there was none. And he's not growing it again. 😯

Ridgeview has a few left but none on my small list. The problem with looking is that I then find NEW things I want to buy! 😁 How I find growers is to look up dahlias I would like. But I don't know most of these growers. Seems there are more growers than ever.

Krista I received my notice and tracking too. Wow - so fast! I ordered several from Dahlia Del this year and he was super fast too!

Kay Kapps made nice a comment concerning HH Sonny Boy. We bred that one long ago and knew it was very productive and easy to grow then but did not know people would be growing it many years later for those same reasons. It is another one we do not grow as it is not part of our breeding program. Then again it probably should be. l

Teddahlia I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind clarifying some of your yellow dahlias, which I’m a little confused by.

This year, I ordered a dahlia called “HH Sunny Boy” from Dahlia Del (I’m including a screenshot of his photo). It doesn’t look like the photo you show, which you call “HH Sonny Boy”, but is labeled “HH Sunny Boy”. But it does look similar to one I found on your website, which is shown as “HH Sunny”. I feel like I remember there also being a “HH Sunny Girl” at some point? Or was it “HH Yellow Girl” and I used to get it confused with “HH Yellow Beauty”? Whew!

I mean, mostly I’m just wondering if you have an idea which one the one I got from Dahlia Del likely is?

Teddahlia interesting... I saw Kay Kapps' picture of it on Dahlia talk, fell in love with it two months in a row, and finally sought it out, but was spelling it 'sunny boy' in my searches - Creekside had one, but when they went to fill my order they had none and he is not growing it again. So I will try searching with that spelling - you never know! I hope you grow it again. I think it has a pretty form.

HH Yellow Girl may well be the one in the picture. It has a checkered past as the trial entry of it had virus and then I was depressed. I kept growing it for many years in small numbers and last year sold a few few tubers. It is a nice flower that never really got a chance to shine.

Just received my 4 boxes of tubers from The Dahlias Legacy Project. What an amazingly fast turnaround! Unfortunately, I had ordered 3 tubers of Mingus Nicole and only received 1, with no explanation. Oh well, Phil Mingus' sister will have to wait until next year for a Mingus Nicole tuber.

Mingus Nicole rotted so frequently that Phil Mingus himself had a good friend grow it for him as he could grow very little of it successfully. The good friend finally was unable to keep the rot out of his tubers and that deal ended after a few years . Our club in recent years only has sold some cuttings. The tubers look great when you dig them but when you check on them mid winter they will have rotted.

Teddahlia Well that is sad to hear. It is a very nice flower. Maybe it will like it here in the blue hole of Washington. The tuber I received looks great! If I was unable to purchase one from DLP sale I was going to ask who donated it and try to make a deal for a tuber next year.

I've been growing Mingus Nicole for a few years. Last year I had 3 tubers and it took 3 months to get one of them to sprout. The other 2 were blind. I grew that tuber as a pot tuber and have been able to get some cuttings off it this spring. It's a beauty....

Mingus Nicole "sour grapes." It fades terribly and you have to shade it for bright blooms.

I received my Dahlia Legacy Project tubers today too, including this almost newborn baby sized AC Alysia. 😅

MissyWeitzel I was eyeing that one up at the Cowlitz sale—I can’t wait to see some pics this summer! I wonder if it’s related to Clyde’s Choice? I always get ridiculously huge tubers from old Clyde.

I have been looking for CV Big Mac for few years and the DLP sale had it. Arrived today!

KitCMC Every year I say I'm going to spoil my As and AAs and limit blooms for size plus give them a lot more growing space but then I forget and pack them all in like the rest. I did give my new-to-me Dick Westfall tuber extra room at the end of a bed and I'm going to try to do the same with AC Alysia.

A Dick Westfall entry at the midwest conference show convinced me I need to grow it. Not a good picture unfortunately.

woo hoooooo! I went to the PDS public online sale and got Hollyhill Daydream! So excited! I wanted a few others, but this was what budget allowed. Been swooning over it for several years.
