KitCMC Yeah I wish I'd grabbed this one. Mistakes were made, but I did get a few of the new ones. I am super into gold right now and very excited to see how Klondike works out.

I was also psyched to buy the pot tubers! I intend to experiment more with pot tubers this summer so am keenly interested. If I had the choice to buy a pot tuber vs a little single tuber it seems a no brainer to me and honestly I was surprised the pot tubers were priced similarly to the single tubers.

NCDahlia Also got AC Woody. I love a dahlia with a tall side view. I am actually a little horrified by how many I got from this sale. I don't know what came over me. Because there was a generous offer to combine shipping I went a little overboard. 😬

I have been buying fewer tubers from smaller newer farmers because I had a lot of problems with soft easily rotting tubers last year, plus I hate all the shipping fees, excessive packaging. Telling myself it's better to buy more from fewer sellers.

More: AC Andromeda, Allen's Pink Treasure, Allen's Candyland, Allen's Angel eye, Allen's Battle Angel, Allen's Alley Cat (someone had posted pics of these here from a visit to Allen's dahlia field, they both looked really beautiful), Allen's Heatwave (this won the Derrill Hart and I love a good bronze. (Bummed I missed Bella, which also won in its class.) Also, AC Poke and HH Shaggy Dog.

AC Petalicious is one that is very easy to grow and for us makes tubers. It is very reliable in the garden. I would compare it to HH Minuet that has similar color but grows taller. Ever since I first saw Chilson's Pride, I have liked the light blend of pink and white. Both of these flowers are very nice in that department.

One of two sales I am definitely planning to shop in the future is Heaven on Earth. I do get a little nervous navigating the site now. With hundreds of images in the continuous scroll, rendering is a little slow even if they load one "page" at a time. I am hopeful that because they are using Shopify as a web host that there are no issues when traffic hits. The cart timer feature, although neat, I have also had mixed experiences with.

The other sale is the in-person sale in Lynden on March 8.

Wow, that is quite a collection, including many of the hard-to-find Hollyhill varieties.

SteveM It will be interesting to see how this year goes. HOE has had some bad luck the last few years and only been able to sell about 150 varieties at the time the sale opens. I hope everything goes right for them, and they can sell everything they want.

When browsing the HOE catalog on a PC, I recommend doing CTRL-click to open varieties in a new tab, or right clicking on them and opening in new tab, otherwise when you use the back arrow it takes you back to the top of the catalog again. This has been a thing with Creekside also.

blown_dry Oooh, nice acquisitions! I always love seeing what Teresa has in her sales at Cowlitz River Dahlias. It was so hard for me to not get Allen’s Showcase & Allen’s Bella! I have had to be very stern with myself to not purchase any that aren’t for one of my specific hybridizing goals this year, as I’m already having to say goodbye to some varieties I love, to make room for seedlings. But I love seeing other people acquiring them & planning to grow them. I’m looking forward to seeing pictures or seeing them at shows! I hope they are magnificent for you this year!

I'm just getting back from in person shopping up north here in Washington. My first stop was in Lynden. They boasted 7,500 tubers available. Format was supermarket sweep. Quite a few varieties had a handful only in stock and of course those were the ones that got scooped up in the first 5 minutes. They were only limits on a few varieties and I believe quite a few people were shopping for friends.

I did not go to the bathroom there, but I should have, because my next stop was in Mount Vernon. It was a beautiful big timber barn with absolutely no bathrooms. I might have survived but the format was waiting in an orderly queue and it was slower than a slug in molasses. I had been there about 15 minutes when I realized there was 50 people ahead of me and there was one or two being let in every 5 minutes. I decided no tuber was worth it and left.

Got a few nice ones anyway. One was Wyn's Phoenix which I can't find information on in the usual places.

Post office switched back to our old address...sending out orders to Washington State where we lived for many years....but moved 6 years ago! IN the meantime we have ordered many items that were delivered. I've had two orders now that were redirected back to the old one. I am so frustrated and angry!!! I'm pretty sure that it is some mailing ap but I am concerned about the small tuber orders..maybe half a dozen, I have made this year and not received yet.These first two orders were well over $100 each

calico20hill that’s so frustrating! If it makes you feel better at all, I haven’t been notified of any shipments sent yet other than from Hollyhill. So maybe yours haven’t shipped yet either?

I hope they make it to the right place - I’d be so upset! 😢

calico20hill I am so worried this will be happening to me this year too. I double checked my address & shipping info saved in PayPal, Venmo, Apple wallet, Chrome wallet, etc. before every crazy, speed lighting dahlia war this winter and I’m still not sure all my T’s were crossed. My most recent purchase generated an email receipt that had my old address in it! Luckily it was with a sale I requested pick-up for but it’s making me pretty nervous — still not sure how my old address populated that transaction?

I hope the folks at your old address return your package to sender and you’re able to contact your suppliers for adjusted re-shipping!

Krista So far we have caught up with two orders but don't know how much farther this might affect us. The hydrangea order went to the Island and was returned to the shipping company. The 2nd order was forwarded through or at least part of the order was...still waiting for the raspberry plants but the company is now aware of the problem. It seems like it is company that a lot of businesses use to ship through, and it reverted to old addresses for us. So its like they got 6 yr old data instead of current. And did not go back to last years orders but way back...I think my only other orders are small dahlia orders. I do have one in at Swan Island but it is showing the correct address.

calico20hill Whoops...the raspberry plants were tied to the Semi dwarf pear tree trunk when we unwrapped it! So that order is all good now.
