Does anybody have info on Ferncliff Gardens opening? Seems like they often open September 1, but I haven’t heard anything about an opening date yet this yea...

Juliarugula Looks like he’s reducing the catalog this year of some “cutting” varieties as someone that used to sell through them moved to Alaska. It’s a huge catalog though.

I’m bummed out to hear Dahlia Del’s had to deal with some rough folks too. I have always been more than pleased with my orders and will continue to be a happy customer for as long as he can continue to put up with us. In the meantime, I also hope he can find a way to navigate a customer base that feels like a good fit for his business.

Got stuck with the spinning wheel of death for the two varieties I really wanted at Rivers. Struck out, gave up. Oh well. As I always say - it’s for the best, and there’s always next year!

The River's cutting sale seems to be open as well. I placed orders mostly for cuttings. I timed out on an RNX Proud tuber, but got it as a cutting. Also, got Zephyr and RNX Bonfire cuttings and a Rivers' Big Sharon tuber.

River's Big Sharon which turns out is BB size. 💁

River's didn't actually open until 1:10 or so. I had most in my cart and tried to check out, only to be told that one was sold out. So I deleted it from my order.....now another one was sold out...so I deleted it from my order...oh well, another one....I decided it wasn'tmeant to be.😞

Flowernut I am sorry for that. I haven't dared put more than 2 or three varieties in an order for new releases for a few years now, but I can understand why saner folks would not want such a small order. While I was trying to order, my cat Byron was chewing on my leg. It was quite the farce.

First time I completely failed at Rivers. It was a sad day. They just left my cart one at a time until they were all gone. The cart just kept hanging up.

DarcyD Darcy, how did you do on last years order...are there River's Dahlias you are still looking for?
I'll be doing a tuber check soon and can note what I might have extra. I only grow one plant of each though. All my new order are rooted cuttings so sharing from them will have to wait a while.

calico20hill Aw thanks Noni!! I have a Rivers Can’t Elope earmarked for you. Theirs from last year all made tubers. I haven’t done any dividing yet though. They’re still in clumps.

DarcyD Would you recommend River's Can't Elope as a good cut flower? Were there other River's tubers that you would recommend as good cut? Does anyone else have recommendations? This coming year I'm concentrating on growing filler flowers and dahlias for bouquets. Happy new year, dahlia friends!🎊

DarcyD Happy New Year! I think I'm just working tomorrow. Jan 1 is historically the highest traffic day on DahliaAddict. I might try to treat myself to some statistics, but everyone seems to have arisen from their holiday-making and started industriously updating their catalogs. Lots of updates over the last two days.

Flowernut OMG yes. It was very good. Rivers has quite a few cut flowers that are great. It’s more about your needs.

I just checked DA for the long list of openings some already have. Some are coming. 🥳
