SteveM Has anyone seen Bell's Limelight in person and does th3 color appear similar to the photos on their site: https://bonnyblooms.com/products/bell-s-limelight Are there any other green dahlias in the works that you know of?
blown_dry SteveM MM Buttercream is the closest I have seen in person. It's name sugggests warm or creamy yellow tones, but it's pushing chartreuse. Limelight could be similar.
Bessie SteveM I looked at the limelight video. I didn't think there was much "green" in the open flower. The KA's seedling has a beautiful petal formation and flower symmetry. I think pale yellow will sometimes look a bit green. I didn't think this seedling was worthy of posting pictures into the seedling thread. It hints of green to me.
Krista I just read that KA is working on hybridizing a green dahlia. They posted this photo of a first year seedling a week ago on their IG account. Link
Krista Not sure whether you are an IG’er — in the comments from KA’s post that I linked — suggested were Winholme Diane, Lime Light, and Parakeet as existing varieties that folks have identified as having greenish tints.
SteveM @blown_dry @Krista Thanks, it looks like they are getting close. Several years ago my father saw a seedling at a show that was green but the form was not perfect so it was not scored or the breeder was not encouraged to pursue it. Good to see.
Juliarugula Not the same as the yellow options, but this white seedling had a noticeably green look from bracts reflecting off the white petals.
Bessie Juliarugula I like the flower! I have some flowers where the green bracts also contribute to the green color.
