HH Diamond had the perfect growth habit for the long season I cut (mid-May to Nov 1). Without judicious pruning most varieties will have skinny stems after 3-4 flushes and so are not salable. HH Diamond continued to have robust stems for the entire year without pruning.
HH Diamond was not a great seller at the market because she was a semi-cactus, and had a slight yellow blush in the center. I kept her around because during the hot months she was the only white variety blooming.
The bloom on HH Diamond was very interesting - it was probably the only variety I have ever grown that never had an open center. The first blooms in mid-May until the last blooms Nov 1 were all perfectly formed. She seemed to ignore the short-day signals that turn most show blooms into semi-double blooms in the Fall. This was great for cut flowers but not so great for hybridizing. I was never able to get a seed from HH Diamond.
