Found a cute friend in my dad’s dahlia garden! He climbed onto my son’s hand, hung out for a bit, and then hopped back into the foliage.

A tree frog slept overnight on the weed eater battery and when I brought it in for charging he jumped off in the hallway. How do you catch a tree frog in your house? Turned out he just sat near the door waiting to go back out. I caught him in a cottage cheese container and helped him out the door. Your frog is prettier that our solid brown version.

About that fall I took through the crazy patchwork deck....I now have bursitis in every joint I think on the right side where I landed first and that took the brunt of the fall. Lots of swelling. Apparently not much can be done but resting it and waiting for time to heal it. I am sure there were no broken bones and there are no pills that cure this, but its sure going to slow me down for the Dahlia Show in Portland. I am trying to stay off my feet as much as possible which is really hard to do! I iced the joints thoroughly for the first 3 days after the accident I need a little scooter to ride to get me around :-(.

Mostly what it is is boring. I hate being bored. Got the right foot in a zip on support boot and its a dull ache. The only good thing is that my dog is snuggled in my lap and that makes me feel better. OR rather it did but she just shiifted and l
laid her head over my aching ankle. Not helpful Maisie mine! Maise is a Boykin Spaniel...

Thanks, Krista! They are Alegrias and that is the only brand of shoe I wear, Every pair is a different pattern or color and they are so comfortable! They are made particularly for nurses and other care takers who are on their feet all day. They have a great selection for fall and winter as well as the summer sandals. A word of warning though...do not wear their "rocker" soles in the garden. They pitched me forward into one my flower beds where my leg got inpaled by one of my husband's "junk" stakes . My one and only ambulance ride on the ferry to one of the downtown hospitals! I stay away fro the rocker soles now (I think those are meant for sidewalks).

I think wearing the ankle brace is really helping. It definitely keeps the swelling down. Not my favorite wearing apparel, LOL...But hugely swollen ankles are not great with any wearing apparel...I worked in the garden for a couple of hours this morning by sitting on my little seat that is on wheels and moving along checking tagging and adding it where needed. I seem to be able to handle that level of work.

Home now as I realized I wasn't doing well with even getting around the hotel, let along the gardens in August heat and smoky air, Broke my heart to miss the last 3 garden tours, especially Hollyhill, but I had not realized my friend had only reserved our hotel room through last night...I thought about staying on but my air conditioner at home plus getting. ride home with her without calling husband in to rescue me, won the decision.

Now comfortable installed with my leg up and the AC set at 60! (I am sure it is warmer then that). Besides, my dog is so happy I came home to her!

I missed out on all the other internet friends I hoped to meet!

calico20hill oh no! I’m so sorry you missed out on some of the tours, but it’s always good to listen to your body. I hope resting up (and your doggie!) helps you recover quickly!
