I have to ignore Sandia Gold cutting that's available right now. As I'm writing this I'm hoping it sells out. It can wait until next year and I still want to shop society sales.

I am fine now if I don't get anything else. I would love to try more KA's but I have one rooted cutting coming and potentially might get some from my neighbor. If not, I will just admire them...6 raised beds does not leave room for everything my little heart desires plus growing out seedlings! I have my new Hollyhills and my new Rivers and a few from Loboaughs, a few Swan Island ones and lots of seedlings to grow out both new and 2 and 3rd year ones.Much as I would love it, I do not need to grow them all...Been there, done that, and retired :-)

calico20hill It is great you are enjoying retirement! do you have more dahlias this year than the last year before your "retirement"? Btw... design rules say you should have an odd number of raised beds. 😋

Overall I have had pretty good self restraint this "shopping season". Our society member tuber sale is in a few weeks and I have found some real gems there every year. I'm trying to decide if I should bring a shopping basket or limit myself to what I can carry in my hands. At $5 each, it's hard to behave!

Walked out into a pile of snow to get my Connell's order out of the mailbox today! Hoping they all stayed above freezing during the trip.

Unless you requested an early April delivery, its a bit early for tuber shipments to cooler parts of the country. I have the same problem in New York. I realize its more work, but it would be better if more growers would offer proposed shipping dates (although most do already).

Hollyhill Dahlias: I have prepared an end of the season sales list. If anyone here on this site wants to order from the list send me a private message and I will send it to you. The list is not very long and a few of the items are three waterlilies for one price. I would love to sell some of our favorites like Letitia and Daydream but we do not have the tubers. HH Tarantula is quite definitely sold out. I will be sending the list out tomorrow April 4th in the evening to some prospective customers so I hope you can order before then.

BarryO Luckily there was a shipping confirmation number so I knew to watch for the mail truck this afternoon and got them inside immediately. It also helps that I work from home most days. I always have a hard time picking shipping dates anyway - the weather this time of year is so variable and I'm impatient.

I got the “in stock” email from North Cascade today and was able to get 3 I had wanted. I know one sold out but if anyone’s interested you could check to see what’s been restocked.

Are farms sending out tubers earlier this year? I think in the past, I only had a couple the first week in April. I suppose the quicker they get rid of their tubers the sooner they can do other things. I have a pile in my house that I usually don't have until mid April. Seems risky, but so far so good.

Funny - I was just thinking it seems late to me. Two years ago I remember I took a trip to Ireland the first week of April and to my embarrassment had to call my husband every single day to bring in all the boxes of tubers that were delivered while I was gone. I think it was something like twenty orders that were delivered that week. This year I’ve only received a couple of orders so far. I guess because the universe can’t laugh at me by making me sheepishly have to ask my husband to bring them in…

I am glad most of the shipping is done: "I suppose the quicker they get rid of their tubers the sooner they can do other things." Gardeners have very little to do and they send out tubers because they are bored. Taking the hundreds of cuttings and planting a bazillion seeds takes no time at all .

Yea seems late to me as well - I still am waiting on 5 orders. Lobaugh's prob will get in this week I already got connels and i got fernclif gardens. I froget who else i ordered from .

NCDahlia LoBaughs has always been one of the last to receive every year. I'm assuming because I'm in Mixhigan.

If I ship later I get emails asking where the hell their tubers are. If I ship earlier I get emails asking why the hell I'm shipping already.

Can't please everybody so I err on the side of early, weather depending. I don't see how there's an issue just storing them with your other tubers if you're not ready to plant, take cuttings or pot them up.
