Wandering Dahlias, I grow Coseytown Goldilocks. I did a trade with her breeder several years ago and this one is a keeper! It makes good tubers that hold over well over the winter, as well.

Out of curiosity, I went to their Facebook page and they say their that their descriptions are inspired by the J. Peterman catalog, so I looked that up. If that's what they were going for, I don't think they succeeded. The Peterman catalog had little stories that went along with the clothes they sell. The Heron catalog doesn't read that way to me - more flowery description than story. Not that I'd be signing up to write stories for hundreds of different dahlia varieties either...

What matters most to me is size of the flower and a good picture of it.

Teddahlia I feel the same way. Dikara Superb is just that a Superb dahlia.

None of the Diane's did anything for me. Blyton's only a few I've kept such as Blyton Stella, and I also still have good stock of Josudi Neptune.

We are introducing 11 new cultivars. Half are garden varieties and 3 are hold overs from 2023 I held back from the sale (storage issues, not the plants fault. Wonder whose fault it can be then? 🤔) And then a few more cut flower varieties. Including what I think is my best cut flower cultivar to date.

We are working on all the listings and will get a date announced very soon.

Teddahlia I'm a little odd. If the picture is terrible, I might pass vs. If there's no picture I don't mind. I do love to read Leeann and Wayne's notes. In the past, their notes have caused me to both pass and purchase. I only skim paragraphs when shopping for dahlias, unless it's history related I dont want the frilly description.

Continuing to think about our dahlia buying experience... Has anyone besides me gotten really irritated at websites where you must click on the listing to know if it's sold out? I think the North Cascade Dahlias has been improved lately. The dahlia descriptions could be elaborated on with more detail, however, the Dahlia quantity to purchase and "add to cart" interface and functionality gets any A+ from me. To have both the quantity and add to cart, as well as the full listing of products available ( with just scrolling up) is so nice. I haven't used the checkout, so don't know off it's top notch. Is there a better dahlia website functionality?

I really like North Cascades site. I think I have made 3 seperate orders to them..sometimes because I am frustrated by a different site so I go to NC to settle my ruffled feathers! I am going to have a beautiful batch of Bloomquist dahlias this year!

Thanks to the dry and Unseasonably warm weather, I took a road trip today. Hung out with some beautiful dahlia people, broke bread together and picked up 15 tubers. This means I'm over my limit for this year. No more shopping unless it's for 2025.

While I don't need a photo to make a purchase, a bad photo (showing bad bloom characteristics) is a total disqualifier. The thought being that if the originator cannot produce a photo showing an exhibition-worthy bloom ( I grow for show), why should I roll the dice with the costly new introduction. Photos help, but only good photos. And please do not "touch-up" photos or distort the actual color of the bloom!
