JillAnne I snagged Iler's Paula and Gretchen. I started collecting Iler's last year after learning their farm was completely off the grid from the person that bought the farm. I purchased a couple from the person that bought the farm and a couple from River's. Eugene told me last year that Kathy Iler had given him the new cultivars they had not released yet, so I knew a couple would be for sale.

I only looked for and bought Here Kitty Kitty and Rosie.

River's Rosie for my daughter Rosie. I said I wouldn't be that person who buys honorary dahlias but here I am.

MIDahlias I got Zephyr because it is an Iler's variety and I was able to get Lexa last year and Aja this year. Sandrine still exists, but it's a terrible tuber maker.

I got Lorax, WB's Sunrise, RNX Tana, Ilers Paula, Gretchen, Artichoke, Black Cherry and some others. Here Kitty Kitty and Cant elope escaped my cart. It was nice to be able to get some fun new ones.

Looking forward to growing River’s Mee-kah. Unusual coloring on an IC.
Also picked up a replacement of River’s Sonia. I lost it and had to have it back!

I was able to snag River's Black Cherry, River's Ruby, River's Tipsy, RNX Coho, WB's Fluffy, WB's Lavender Ice and NTAC Mia Li. I had to remove WB's Sunrise and I wanted River's Lucille (not available) and decided on RNX West Sweets.

I was 100% laser focused on Wendy Miner and got three tubers! Hooray!

My second most wanted was Here Kitty Kitty and then Can’t Elope and I missed both of those. I got Coal Mine, Meekaw, Ripple, and Lorax though.

I did struggle with checkout , too. I’m not sure if the issue was Kitty Kitty being sold out or if there was a problem with Apple Pay for me (still didn’t work after I removed Kitty Kitty…). The checkout didn’t tell me the problem, it just took me back to my cart. Finally checked out with PayPal, which was fine!

I wanted River's Here Kitty Kitty, Can't Elope, and Carla but missed them all as I had to remove them from my cart one by one.

I did get Wendy Miner, River's Dumpster Fire, River's Cadence, and River's Snow Cone. I'm always extra excited about growing more midwest originations too (Wendy Miner).

I am trying to cut back on number of varieties and honestly have no business shopping for more tubers, but I couldn't pass this sale up. I was really happy with all my dahlias from River's last year and the customer service was great too.

What a day! I actually scheduled my emergency root canal around the Rivers opening 😂 I was happy to get my most wanted which was Can’t Elope, then quickly went back and got Rivers Rosie, RNX Bonfire, Rivers Snow Cone, Rivers Penelope, Irish D Porter, WBs Lavender Ice and Wyns Sleepy Head. I missed out on Rivers Carla. Then hopped in the car and quickly went to my root canal. It made a really bad day better!! 🥳

Thank you! It was a bad idea for me to get a tooth infection over Christmas. Hopefully, just upwards from here. Definitely a good day! Tooth fixed and successful tuber purchase. 💃🏻🌸💃🏻

Bulldog Dahlias is open. I picked up Hollyhill Moonsong and Hollyhill Finlandia. A nice surprise after losing the two I wanted from my cart at Rivers. I knew I should have gone for River’s Can’t Elope only but am hoping they will have it in their restock. They do plan on selling cuttings in the spring as well. I did get River’s Angel, River’s Cherry Bomb, WB’s Misbehavin’, and Glenmarc Skye. I had the pleasure of meeting Rosie and Eugene this summer on one of the tours at the National Show. The garden we were visiting had quite a few River’s cultivars growing. Kristine Albrecht was on the same tour and was admiring the color of River’s Rosie.

HiDahlia I loved WB’s Misbehavin’. It never got any of the random bi-color, but had
the prettiest pearl shimmer.

I was able to snag a few of the varieties I wanted most from River’s, but missed out still on some I wanted lots. The website worked well for me and my saved payment information auto-populated as expected which was great. I was a little thrown off by the prompt to type in a requested shipping date but was mostly just pleased to have the option to communicate a preference. I can never remember which suppliers provide that courtesy which sounds like a potential headache for small businesses come shipping time; very much appreciated though! It does look like the spring cuttings sale will make some available again that sold out quickly this round which is encouraging. I’m looking forward to growing Gretchen, River’s Can’t Elope, River’s Here Kitty Kitty, and Zephyr next year.

Krista The date was another hiccup I forgot about. I think that took more time than removing the tubers from my cart. After the prompt, I was trying to get a drop down to choose from. I finally just typed, "April" and hoped it would go through. I read on their website beforehand the shipping dates, I assumed if I was good with their shipping dates I wouldn't need to put in a date.

I will probably be hitting the cuttings sale too as 2. or 3 I wanted had sold out, but I was glad to get the ones I did.

MIDahlias Yes, reading the fine print accurately and quickly enough to accomplish the task! I’m not sure whether a drop down could be a formatting option but that does sound like a nice idea. I wonder if this hiccup is just great enough to perhaps slow down the super speedy buyers a bit, to the benefit of us slower folks in the long run 😅? I will say paying via mobile device wasn’t successful, but via computer it was.

I chose to shop on my mobile device because I noticed ahead of time that the website was set up for Applepay, which is usually super fast on my phone with facial recognition.

My sister (not a dahlia person) was watching me over my shoulder as I got flustered with checkout and switched to PayPal. Me: “What?! Ship date?? I don’t know what ship date!!” Jenny, shouting: “March 1! Just put March 1!!” 🤣🤣🤣. I guess the dahlia-shopping energy is a bit contagious…
