I made an account with the local flower wholesaler and went shopping yesterday for the first time. I didn't even look at the flowers and spent over an hour checking out all the vases and other floral accessories. I was like a kid in the candy shop. Brought home a bunch of new vases I needed. I'm going to bring these to my mom later. She goes crazy for flowers and texts me pictures of them sitting in different places in their condo. It's cute. 😊

And I can certainly understand the need for vases….I am saving empty salsa jars and kombucha bottles to use as makeshift vases (for when I’m dropping off flowers to a friend or neighbor)

Justafewdahlias it's actually Liz Evangelista, which is a yellow and orange variety, but right now, along with several other varieties, are coming in very light in color due to weather.

MissyWeitzel oh wow, I wouldn’t have guessed that! I realize my screen brightness was down super low and after adjusting it I do see the evidence of the yellow/orange blooms. All summer long I have been saying to myself “wow this dahlia is so colorful and vivid in person the pics online didn’t do it justice!” However I am sure my phone brightness was yet again down super low when I ordered everything this year haha

Is there a way to look up all the introductions a hybridizer has if they don't use a prefix or another easy identifier? I know I can look in my ADS classification handbook to find out who hybridized specific varieties, but I can't figure out a way to reverse that.
I have seen quite a bit of discussion here about Mike Iler's intros, but I would love a complete list. I have Fifi, Fiona, and Appaloosa, and they're among my top favorites so I would love to find stock of more of his!

MissyWeitzel Sweet @MIDahlias texted me to remind me that I can log in to the members only page of the ADS website and use the expanded OCG to look up by hybridizer name! I'm going to post all of Iler's here shortly in case anyone else was curious.

MissyWeitzel if you’re collecting Iler varieties, you can hit me up for an Aja tuber at our swap if you want. It was hard to find and has been fun. Likely the brightest dahlia in my garden! This photo is pretty accurate

MissyWeitzel I’m growing Zephyr this season. If it blooms I’ll post a pic here. I have about 1/2 of my plants that are odd miniatures of their normal size. I assume it’s due to early weeks of flooding rains moving into super long hot spell. I lost a LOT and what did survive many stunted. Zephyr is about 2.5’ now. Happy to trade if it makes tubers.

Kathy Iler gave a lot of the seedlings to Eugene (River's Dahlias). The last two seasons he's released some (but not in the ocg) Iler's Kimberly and Iler's Paula are two of them.

MissyWeitzel I don’t believe their complete list will be in the ADS database if the variety hasn’t been shown recently (others here will be far better at confirming that). I am growing a small handful of Ilers — a few not included in this list. If they make tubers, I’ll be happy to trade!

Kathy Iler and Mike Iler had their own seedlings. She liked open center types and a lots of others that Mike did not like.

The online data base includes those classified and were put in the Classification Guide. Some get removed because they've been lost. I don't know if they still do it, but the ADS used to put out a list of cultivars they believed were missing to see if anyone had them. If not they would be removed.

Iler's you have not listed in the online Classification guide never made the guide. Either because they wouldn't pass or because they never got that far. Hopefully, some of the cultivars Rivers is releasing might get classified.

The person who purchased the Iler's property also took over growing dahlia, but she was unable to take over the website where all the pictures were to help her label what she has.
