That is what is so frustrating! I know they are here. But I don't think they are in the greenhouse or the grow tent in the garage. Or in the house! That doesn't leave a lot of choices.
Maybe I potted them and put the wrong labels on them? That would be weird!

calico20hill I think when I finally found mine I had tucked them in a storage bin that had my own divided tubers in it.

The box they came in is empty. THe labels were made but not yet inserted in pots. The Connell's tubers I was potting at the same time are done and labeled. Its a head scratcher for sure! Maybe I better empty out the Connells ones and see if the 5 Lobaughs are disguised as Connell ones..or count the labels with the tuber names and see if there are 5 extras there...if so, what journey was my mind on??!!!

Hmmm, you mean that the "indoor only" cats have snuck out to my greenhouse, picked up 5 tubers and relocated them and then snuck back into the house? THat makes about as much sense as anything else! I would say that my dog ate them except she is never allowed in the "Greenhouse yard" (Because....ducks!)The ducks are not allowed in the greenhouse yard either but the fence is only tall enough to keep ducks in and dog could jump it. Crazy little farm here with lots of fences and gates!

So I realized I made a lot of extra work for myself lol. The pots I have are 9 inches deep I usually only plant my tubers 5 inches deep. I have to dig out a foot down, a foot wide to lay this awesome hardware cloth I got on AMZN for 600 feet (6 dif rows) to get the pots to be level with the ground. My HOA would be like no can't have all those pots sticking up even slightly out of the ground.

Good thing its still 3-4 weeks before I plant . I will likely charge people money for flowers this year every year I just like to give them away to neighbors this year I will take a $2 donation per bunch 😂

Lost Tubers FOUND!

THis is one of the "Head smack" ones! SO, I had taken the box out to the greenhouse with the tubers in it but without the sheet that had their names on it...Rather then make another trip back to the house, I Just wrote the tuber number on the pot tag. So, by the time I got back to it again, I had totally forgotten that part but they were safe and warm and tucked up in their pots...With only the number as ID and my eyes skipped right over the numbers ...

Now all 5 properly labled warm and happy in the greenhouse under lights on this chilly wet day! I see only one Allen's Smoky Skies, but if the tubers were small I would have put both in the same pot until I had growth and a name on them.

Now lets hear a unified sigh of releif!

My mom has always exclaimed over the dahlias in my garden, but I have not tried to influence her one way or the other. Since she retired, she has started growing a few varieties, normal stuff. Today, she texted me. "Is the dahlia rhubarb and custard impossible to get?" Oh, no. She has discovered unicorns. 😬🦄

KitCMC Thank you! I got one for me and one for mom. It also prompted me to revamp my listings for Lily's. They opened so early that they weren't on my radar when we added the ability to indicate cuttings and import listings in Nov. allowing for the same supplier to have multiple types of listings. That is now mended.

Entering dahlias I ordered prior to a lightening strike that fried my laptop never were put in an excel document. Those ordered after were not added in either. Here I sit entering in all my 2024 garden orders. Two from here, three from there and a couple orders of ten are really adding up. I seem to have ordered something from almost every farm I have ever received good tubers from and now I might need to find a new garden plot. I think I should be embarrassed. (I really should become a personal shopper for tuber sales)

How many new to you dahlia tubers are you adding to your garden this year? It's ok to reply with "too many", if like me.... too many.

MIDahlias around 80 new-to-me this year but I'm sure that number will go up after our WMDS tuber sale in a couple weeks. I was going to be done ordering but then I managed to look at Crazy 4 Dahlias at the right time and snagged a couple 20th Ave Gwen tubers. 😊

MIDahlias So many new tubers. I like to blame it on my job as it requires me to spend hours every day looking at dahlia catalogs. This has been an issue since the beginning. And if there is a new supplier I will tell myself that trying them out is useful, almost a public service. But at least now there is always grow bags.

MIDahlias After the Portland DS tuber sale and action last night - 98 new varieties to add to the almost 300 I had last year. Good thing I am building 6 more 45' long raised beds.

I think 28 and half of those are BL\loomquist Varieties, because when ever I couldn't get what I wanted elsewhere I went to North Cascades and was able t order from them. I got a nice order from Ted and Margaret of Hollyhill tubers and a trade with a penpal far far away. My order from Lobaughs was small but the first one where I was actually able to get through the internet battle and order! I have a lot of new seedlings that will need to find space in my garden...also a nice crop of 2nd and 3rd year seedlings. I also went for some nice Swan Island varieties in hopes of breeding some better tubers into my Salish Varieties. I am excited to get going on this years garden! TUbers are all potted in the greenhouse to produce a few cuttings, and lots of seeds started.
