BarryO I get what you are saying, Barry. But to my mind, that would be like talking about something at a social gathering that closely concerns someone who is at the gathering, but we pretend like they aren't there hearing us talk about it. In the parts of the site that I moderate, I only want to host that kind of discussion if the active member initiates it, indicating they want to be part of a discussion about something that directly concerns them.
That said, it's an issue in the public sphere, and the forum allows people to hold their own social gatherings with their own rules outside my purview, and that's there for people if they want it.
