Even after the fact? I guess because then it can’t prejudice you towards future flowers from the same hybridizer?
I obviously know very little about judging, but I’m curious…. Are there reasons why an otherwise excellent flower would score low? I really am curious why Irish Moon wouldn’t have scored well at our garden. To my inexperienced eye, it had fantastic, consistent form, strong stems, bloomed heavily all season long, had clean foliage. The only thing I can think of was that the yellow color was on the lighter side? Just curious…
The Elkhart Dahlia Society does a yearly talk at the garden where they go over how the seedlings are judged. Unfortunately, I’ve had scheduling conflicts both years I’ve been a member and haven’t gotten to attend yet. Maybe this year…
