I remember mentioning getting some fun seedlings out of Steve O seeds last year, and Ted said that there was a Steve O seedling known variety but he couldn’t remember what it was.
I noticed that the Boleys added to their seed parent info section on the birch bay website, and it lists Kung Fu Kitty as a seedling of Steve O, so maybe that’s the one you were thinking of Ted? I also find this interesting, as one of my seedlings was barbed. I actually regret that I didn’t keep that one another year - I liked the colors a lot too, but the form was pretty rumpled…. I keep wondering if it might have settled in year two. Oh well.
I also noticed that it lists HH Peachy Keen as a seedling of HH Jitterbug, which interested me as HH Peachy Keen is one of my top faves. So now I have a question for Ted, if he is willing to share info. I’ve grown HH Jitterbug for a few years now, specifically because I had some idea I had picked up somewhere that it was a “good” seed parent. However, it’s been a pretty shy bloomer for me, and I haven’t even gotten a single seed from any pods. I’m wondering if that is atypical (maybe I need fresh stock?). I suppose also could be climate or compatible varieties. Trying to decide if I should plant my stock for another try this year or not…. I’m not even sure if having more info will help me decide. 🤣. Who knows?
