What begat what? Many people that are breeding dahlias would like to replicate a flower and want to know the seed parent(and pollen parent , if known) of the flower. Why? One reason may be that the flower they want to breed does not make seeds and the next best thing may be to use the parent of the famous flower. Or, perhaps the flower they like is part of a “family” where several of the seedlings from the parent were successful and they want to 
use the parent to see if they too can get good seedlings. I personally, enjoy finding out the parent(s) of a flower I like. I say to myself: “So that is why that flower looks like that.” Many of the parents of of famous flowers are well known. For example, most all breeders know that Mick Senior crossed Edna C. with Zorro and the result was Spartacus. Of course, Spartacus went on to sport into over ten named varieties. So, perhaps using Edna C. or Zorro as a seed parent would be a good idea.
So, perhaps you know the parent(s) of a famous flower or you want to know the parents and someone may know the answer. Why not post some of them?
